Great signing!
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Sonny-Weems-330/Sonny Weems is in his prime and I think he will be a rotation player on our team for sure.

Stoked! I really liked Weems - dude was a legit elite athlete and had big upside as a defensive wing.
Not sure how his 3pt shot has improved or not, but I think this signals PJ's on the way out now - Haywood contract? To the Clips for Crawford/his expiring? To the Nuggets for Gallinari? Nets for Teletovic?
That remaining cap-space with Tucker's contract gets us a solid contract back...

Good signing picking up Sonny Weems I was surprised to see him go to Europe, he's athletic with a jump shot he can be a good role player in the NBA.

Not sure about that. I think Tucker stays. Weems is more than anything a SG, he is 6'5 (but with great wingspan like Archie) and he is not strong enough to defend a ton of SFs in this league.
He can play some minutes here and there like a SF, but it's not his natural position.
We wanted another wing to add shooting and experience and he is a good option. Booker is not gonna play, we know that, at least the first part of the season.

Another undersized SF? If he's a SG that's quite a log jam considering we have Knight, Booker, Goodwin and Bogdanovic all at that same position.

Weems is an athletic super freak, he set draft combine records that still stand to this day. A super athletic wing that could fly up and down the floor, really played hard on defense and couldn't shoot worth a damn. It seems like he's honed his shot overseas, showing good range from outside. A mature, hard working player who was the best wing in the EuroLeague.

Bogdan isn't coming over for another two years. Still don't really know where Weems will get minutes though.

I'm guessing he'll get minutes at SG and SF, largely replacing Green on the roster.

Paul Coro talking about Weems...
He probably will be the first guard off the bench. Ahead of Goodwin and Booker.
He shot 40% on 3s last season if you combine Euroleague and Russian league games. He took four 3s per game.
Interesting. He was a top Euro player & was motivated to return to the NBA. Have to see if the shooting & defense translate.
Weems, who is 6 feet 6 with a 6-10 wingspan, will probably be the first guard off the Suns bench unless one of the younger players, Archie Goodwin or Devin Booker, outperforms him. Weems can be a disruptive defender and also act as a secondary ball-handler in pick-and-rolls.

This is a great signing. He's not the flashing FA we're looking for but he could do a lot of what PJ and Green did for us, and at the fraction of the costs of both guys. He's on a dirt cheap deal, he's been a pro for a long time and I think he'll be good for the team (assuming McD positioned his role here truthfully).

I hate the idea of a 29 year old from Europe playing instead of developing Goodwin and Booker.
Even though Booker's only 18, he was rated among the most NBA ready prospects in the draft.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the only thing NBA-ready about Booker is his shooting stroke. He still has a lot to learn on both ends of the court. Guys like Austin Rivers, JJ Reddick, Jimmer Fredette, Ben McLemore, Jeremy Lamb all came in as either great shooters or scorers in college but none of them had much impact right away because an NBA ready shot is not enough. Also keep in mind, every player listed above also had a ton more experience in college or played significantly more minutes in bigger roles than Booker. All were a lot more highly touted and considered ready to contribute right away.
Count me in the sceptical camp but I don't think Booker is ready to contribute. I also don't believe our front office are expecting an NBA-ready prospect either.

As I've said before, expect Booker to spend more time in the NBDL than in the NBA this season. Yes he's got a nice shot, beyond that, he has a lot of development to do. He was drafted for the player he can be, not the one he is currently. Expect Weems and Goodwin to get the bulk of the minutes at SG.
