Yeah, and I'm a UA fan and not an ASU fan and also a Chargers fan on top of the Cardinals and other pro teams, so not a good one. I'm glad ASU won though.

I was watching that game today and when they showed stadium angle there were either Chiefs fans or empty seats. I’m not sure there’s a more lifeless situation for a team in their current residence than the Chargers. And that’s a team that has some legit players too.

I know, I was shocked when I saw the % of empty seats, especially with such a small venue. Opposing team fans is normal, but a home opener against a good team that empty? That's bad.

OMG..you too :banghead:

Fitz has been balling out of his mind and I get riding the hot hand, but this isn't a basketball game or a pitcher in MLB, he is the starting QB. Fitz is a 35 year old Journeyman and Jameis is a 24 year old franchise qb, minus the one off field groping incident. I don't think you bench him for Fitz because Fitz has been insane. Fitz will come back to earth and then you created animus with JW. Also, our OC is calling plays not the ASU guy  Plus, we have a crap load of talent and the line is blocking finally.

Do you bench book because JJ has two great games at SG? I know it is a different situation between football and basketball, but still the mind is a delicate thing regardless.

I want Jameis to comeback and start. He was playing lights out in the preseason as was Fitz. Most fans don't know, but Fitz went 2-1 last year when Jameis was out, so his play isn't surprising to me, the wins are though :D

The media push with this is really irking me, but I get it. Monday morning qb controversy is the best.

Well, it's tough. For example, with Dak Prescott I thought they never should have left Romo out...he NEVER had that line Dak was fortunate to have.

But the thing with Fitz is, it's not like he beat a couple of bad teams or squeezed out victories with ball control games. You're talking 400+ yards and 4 tds in each of his games against two of the best defenses in the league last year. That's no joke.

Obviously Winston is the future but if Fitz does it two more times and they are 4-0 I think if you bench him for Winston in game 5 you lose half the team. Let him have a bad performance or two. I don't know. Maybe Fitz somehow is in the perfect situation but you go with it.

You can't compare it with the Suns. In the NFL any team can win the Super Bowl any year. And QB is obviously very important.

I can't disagree with you..I mean I can, but everything you stated has merit. Its a good place to be in right now, considering my life as a sports fan outside of 2016 and 2002.

Re: OT - World Series

Post#448 » by bwgood77 » Sat Oct 27, 2018 4:13 am

I wonder how many innings this goes now that it is in extra innings. Hard to decide who to pull for when it is BOS/LA. I used to pull for the Red Sox until they won the World Series in 2004. But it's hard to pull for either.

I'm pulling for LA to win this one just so maybe it ends up an exciting World Series. Seems like Boston kind of has the momentum though.

Edit: So right when I post that the Dodgers get a double, but 2 outs, so still tough.

Yeah. I can't wait for them to be doing that and miss some action going on. It's bad enough when the Suns are doing the stats by GEICO infographic or something like that and the camera misses a play or two.
Ads are taking over our sports.

Damn it went 18 innings...man, at 11 innings I was wondering how much longer it would go and if I should try and stay up.

Maybe the most amazing play of the year, and against the Patriots who I despise...

Gronk should just retire after that.

Yeah, not good....but funny expecting a hail mary so they put in skill receiver and Gronk and all of them end up having to chase guys and tackle....didn't do that so well.

On another note, it sucked to see the Chiefs beat the Ravens in OT...Chargers literally could have taken over the overall 1 seed in AFC with a win this Thursday. I think right now even if they win they would lose the tiebreaker.

But of course they may end up with the 5th seed even with the 2nd best record in AFC...and have to go to Pittsburgh who inexplicably lost to the Raiders. I would have rather they go to Houston.

Anyway, it also sucks the Chiefs/Chargers is on the same time as Suns/Mavs and Ayton's second game against Doncic.

Yeah, i've had the exact same thoughts. Really would have liked to see the Chiefs lose yesterday. It was so close. They at least don't look invincible. Hopefully we get Gordon back and everyone else stays healthy. Does kind of suck that we could end up tied for the best record in the AFC and still be the 5 seed...

Man this season has been fun but it just makes me so nervous for each game. I also would love for us to have Hunter Henry for the end of the season/playoffs, but i doubt he comes back.

Is there even a chance Henry comes back? As huge as that would be, I'd rather have Liuget back...that's a huge loss..our D seems a bit worse without him....Derwin James is for real though.

As much as I want the Chargers to win on Thursday, I’m pretty confident that they won’t. Andy Reid simply has the book on how to beat Rivers. Chiefs have won 9 straight against the Chargers and 4 of Rivers’ 6 worst career QB ratings have come in Arrowhead against the Chiefs. Chargers either get blown out or choke away leads in unbelievable fashion against KC. This year’s Chiefs team with Mahomes is better than any Chiefs team that Rivers has ever played against so I don’t see the end result being any different. My bestfriend is a Chiefs fan and he mocks me with a saying of “There are only 4 certainties in life; life, death, taxes and Rivers losing to Andy Reid” and unfortunately it’s true.

I love Phillip to death and people on the Chargers forum call me a huge Rivers homer because I never blame him and they say I often find excuses for him. But his only fault to me is his inability to beat KC but that’s okay and I’ll live with it. I just hope NE or PIT knock out KC in the playoffs so the Chargers don’t have to play them. I like the Chargers chances with Rivers against 28 other teams just not KC.

It’s okay though because the Chargers can afford two more losses and still be in good shape for playoffs. I expect a loss to KC and then a possible L against Baltimore because it’s a home game and Chargers have sucked in Los Angeles against good teams. But that’s a 50/50 game which I wouldn’t be surprised to see either team win. The Broncos game is a must win for the Chargers and I expect them to do it as well after seeing what the Niners did to them yesterday.

And 9/10 times I would watch the Chargers over the Suns trainwreck this season but only because it’s the KC game, I will watch the Suns instead.

I thought i read somewhere that Henry wanted to try and come back but I am not sure. And yeah Liuget and Perryman were two big losses on D. But DERWIN JAMES IS A BEAST! I was ecstatic when he fell to us and I am so pleased with how he has been playing. I couldn't believe so many teams passed on him.

It's funny because Rivers had a long winning streak against the Chiefs before Andy Reid took over....which probably coincided with McCoy taking over. I think the odds definitely are in favor of the Chiefs, but the Chargers will be pumped and the Chiefs have been more vulnerable. Obviously it might depend a lot on whether Gordon and/or Ekeler are available. Chiefs didn't look so hot against the Cards, gave up 33 to Oakland and won by 7 and nearly and probably should have lost to the Ravens, so they are not invincible. Chargers didn't look great this week but I imagine they will be pumped for this one.

Honestly even more so than being invincible, it’s about how extremely well KC matches up with the Chargers and how poorly the Chargers just match up with them. The Chiefs have beat the Chargers even with backup QB Chase Daniels once (they were resting all their starters) in a regular season finale and winning the game would have put us in the playoffs. The year before the Chargers nearly lost at home against Chase Daniels with Chiefs again resting starters but luckily the KC kicker missed a FG at the end. Reid just masterfully exploits holes in both our offense and defense every time.

Chiefs could lose by 40 each to the Browns, Raiders and Cardinals in back to back to back weeks and I would still expect them to beat the Chargers in their next game. Football is different than basketball in that matchups matter so very much more.

I hated when KC hired Reid even though some Chargers fans thought it would be awesome because they thought he stinks. He always overachieved in Philadelphia with the roster he had there and now is doing the same with KC. His system doesn’t work for the playoffs but it’s perfect for the regular season.
