So the Cards traded up in the first round, by trading 3 picks away last year, and now deal him for a mid 2nd.

and 8m of dead cap space with which to NOT improve the team even more...
Glennon, Bradford and Rosen are costing 16m of dead cap space

A McDonough worked for the Cardinals and the Suns - not very good.

Yep

They made the mistake last year, just like the Suns did with Koko.

It is telling that Rosen is not even worth a 1st this year and maybe not worth a 2nd. This is with him being a bargain salary cap wise for the receiving team. I quite frankly would not trade him for anything less than a 2nd this year. I would keep him as Murray's back up and wait for the first quarterback to go on the IR and see if I could get something more next year than they are being offered this year.

Where & when do you think Koko will get his next head coaching gig - in the NBA?

We may not like the management at either of these franchises but it really is easy to see why the Cardinals drafted Murray and why the Suns Whacked Koko.
We hired the coach I have wanted for a long time.

Now it is time to turn this mess into a winner.

Go Suns!

It's weird because Kliff thought Murray was the best player in college football and the Cardinals took him with the 1st pick.

Here we signed Koko and let his wonderboy escape by drafting Ayton.

It was weird from the beginning and let's see what happens for the Cardinals.

Yeah get the player your coaches system can flourish with.

Im a packer fan so have no skin in this but I didn't mind what the cards did. QB is so important if they really believe Murray is THE guy then you take him.. period. It's the most important position in professional sports.

As far as the Igor and Rosen comp I absolutely agree neither were given a fair chance due to circumstances out of their control but that doesn't nessesarily mean these moves were wrong. Both organizations deserve blame for the situations they put the guys in but if Murray and/or the next suns coach prove to be clear upgrades when we look back a couple of years from now then no one will ever bring this up.

Look, i dont watch every Cardinals game as im really not that big into football, but of course its hard not to somewhat follow whats going on with sports media how it is, so my opinion may not matter that much, but with that being said, here is my take on things:

-Rosen got a raw deal. As many have pointed out he wasnt really given the tools needed to succeed. Absolutely crazy to give up on such a high ranking QB after only one season. I remember last draft he was rated as one of the highest and best QB's out there, but dropped due to what some people saw as "Off the field" issues, none of which were to be seen at all during his time here in AZ. He talked the talk, said all the right things that you would want him to say, and tried to walk the walk but was limited in due part to the rest of the roster and coach.

-I really didnt see a reason to draft a QB. Cards had too many holes to fill at other positions so it really didnt make sense to me to use that pick to replace a position that is already covered.

-Now even though i just said all that about Rosen, i still believe that Kyler Murray is the better QB and will have the better career. The perfect Coach for him is under contract with us and the perfect system for him (The same Air Raid system he ran in college) is here for him as well. He already has been given 2 huge tools that he will need to be as successful as he can be.

-Cardinals pulled a "Suns" and absolutely screwed themselves when it came to the trade. The moment they drafted Murray, Rosens trade return was instantly cut in half. If i remember correctly we paid a pretty penny to draft him in the first place (We traded the #15th pick along with our 3rd and 5th round picks to move 5 spots up to #10 to draft Rosen). 3 picks to draft him and somehow only got a late 2nd round pick and a future 5th round pick for him. We basically lost a mid-to-high 1st round pick in all of this. Horrible trade management from the Front Office!

-As for the 2nd round....i was looking for them to try to provide more protection for Murray (Something that Rosen was lacking immensely this season), and was looking for them to take Cody Ford, Murrays former teammate and someone who already has Murrays trust. We went CB instead, which is fine, i understand why, so im not all that mad at the move. Byron Murphy is a hell of a football player and is a local #Valleyboy too. 1st round talent and we got him in the 2nd, so hard to pass up. With the late 2nd we got from Miami i had one name in mind, and that was DK Metcalf. Really like this kid. For a WR he has ELITE size (6'3), strength (228lbs and built like a brick house) and speed (4.33 in the 40 with a 40.5 inch vertical jump). Instead we go with Isabella, a 5'9 WR with tiny tiny arms and hands and despite weighing damn near 40lbs' less (185lbs) than Metcalf, was only .02 seconds faster than Metcalf in the the 40 and has 4 inches less on his vert. Give me the big guy who is an easier target for Murray to hit and who can play through the contact instead of the fragile wet noodle that is Isabella. I think there was a HUGE mistake made there and we will regret it as Metcalf will be a BEAST in the league.

-3rd round, Zach Allen was perfect. Best Player available at a much needed position.

-4th round im looking at Dru Samia. Another former teammate of Murrays, he was solid as his run-blocker and is a major reason why Murray was as successful running the ball as he was. We really need help to keep Murray protected. I also think we need to grab another WR as well, and really think that Hakeem Butler could be a major get for us. Im actually surprised he is still on the board (Another WR i think is better than Isabella).

As for the rest of the draft.....play it by ear and try to stock up on lineman (Both offensive and defensive) as thats where we really struggled this season.

DK Metcalf is the next Christine Michael for the Seahawks. All SPARQ, no production. Dude can run like 2 routes. Andy Isabella is an open field playmaker, not a guy that can only run in a straight line like Metcalf.

We'll see....Carroll said that DK has worked on his route running this off-season. He worked with a specialist down in AZ. The coaches don't believe his route tree will hold him back (In other words, he can run more than 2 routes). The reason he fell in the draft is because of his 3-cone (Which isn't a clear indicator) & his neck injury in 2018. Another thing that hurt him was that Ole Miss never seemed to properly utilize him. A.J. Brown was showcased in that offense. Considering he has a ridiculous catch radius to go along with his speed. He's a natural fit & exact prototype for Seattle's offense (As an X-Receiver). The Hawks game plan is to run the ball & take deep shots down the field. Along with that speed (4.3), Metcalf is a great Red-Zone weapon for Wilson.

Fwiw Michael was a bad pick with immaturity & off the field issues. A knucklehead that just couldn't stay out of trouble.

Metcalf appears to be a good kid without the baggage.

I have concerns about Murray but I applaud Kiems conviction. Regardless what you did last year you focus on the year at hand. What if the Blazers said we dont care we have Drexler we need to draft Jordan?

DK also fell in the draft was due to his team interviews. He got bad advice from his agent who told him he should go to the meetings without a shirt on. Some GM's thought it showed immaturity, another said it felt like he was trying to intimidate, Seattle's guy's said they didnt appreciate it, but warmed up to it quickly. Supposedly the agent told him to do this to distract and take peoples minds off of the negative stuff being said about Metcalf and put the focus back onto his body and muscles, something people on line spent months gawking at during the season.

I missed this on the main board. Really sad. I didn't communicate with him much but I always remember him ending his posts with 'Mags'.

Case and point with DK Metcalf's route running. Dude looks like a horse trying to stop itself from running off a cliff on that route. No doubt he'll find success running a bunch of Go and Post routes, but his lack of agility for his speed is obvious.

Kyrie's are nice to play in. I've heard good things about the KD12 too, don't have a pair though.

So im not the biggest football fan so im sure most of u guys who follow AZ sports have already been all over it...I mean I listen to them talk about Murray all the time on the radio and never looked into it. Its a down time of year so I was like lets see what this QB has...

And man his throwing seems so effortless his speed is crazy....

I usually go into W-L weekly leagues for money and watch the redzone… But this might be the first yea ever im going to watch a full cardinals game. Rosen didn't do it for me. This kid looks like he could be somethin special even if hes small....Maybe ill go to my first NFL game this year depending how they do...

Any other stuff about the kid but be helpful as well.

He was 42-0 in High School with 117 tds and only 22 interceptions. He passed for over 10,300 yards and rushed for over 4,100. In college he only lost 3 games, though he only started the last 3 games as a freshman for Texas A&M and lost 1 to Auburn. After transferring to Oklahoma, he sat behind Baker Mayfield, the heisman winner and #1 pick for a year, and then last year passed for over 4,300 yards with 42 tds and only 7 interceptions. He also rushed for over 1,000 yards. It's kind of hard for a rb to rush for over 1,000 yards, so he is a SERIOUS weapon.

The only question is his height at 5'10, because he will be playing behind a line where the average height is like 6'5. But his height has never been a problem yet.

Starters don't typically play the first couple of preseason games but he's starting tonight. He will probably be going against a defense playing 2nd or 3rd stringers and people fighting for a roster spot. It would be interesting if the Chargers played their starting defense because it's tough, but I doubt they play any starters on defense.

He should certainly be exciting to watch.
