Nice. The only jersey card I ever accumulated out of a pack was of Antoine Walker. I remember reading my beckett (is that what it's called?) and it said it was wort $150 at the time. Not even worth the paper it's printed on now I bet.

I think my mom still has my cards in some storage somewhere... I hope.

I collected a ton of basketball cards in the 90's. Unfortunately, most aren't worth squat due to card companies overprinting.

I collected a ton of football, basketball and baseball cards in the 80s. Unfortunately I left them with my brother who started selling the valuable ones for money when he needed it. Then it was in storage with my step dad who didn't pay the bills and they got auctioned off.
I made some mistakes with those cards in the early years. One year they had cards with three players on them, but they looked like they were made to separate into three smaller cards. This one had DR. J, plus Magic and Bird as the three cards. I tore them into three cards. I think I read Bill Simmons once and he did the same..I was laughing pretty hard at that.
It is similar to #3 on this list.
http://www.cardboardconnection.com/top-basketball-rookie-cards-timeGreat KJ rookie cards. I'm surprised I don't do the same and collect his cards.

That fleer rookie card brings back memories. I have that same one somewhere.
In 3rd grade I saw the opportunity to make money by trading cards with classmates. By 4th grade, no one would trade with me because I became known for always getting the better part of the deal. Lol. I knew Beckett values by heart.
Unfortunately, I made some major mistakes in my collection like stocking up on Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill cards. Like one poster said above, due to overprinting, most cards from 1990+ aren't worth ****.
The smartest thing I ever did was implementing a strategy to buy ANY Jordan card I could for $1 or less at card shows. I still have over 1,000 Michael Jordan cards stored at my parents house. But none of them are his rookie cards unfortunately.
But those Jordan cards are the only ones that appear to have positive value today.

You were the Danny Ainge of basketball card traders.

Nice. I was the same way with Charles Barkley. Had a few hundred cards plus all kinds of memorabilia(posters, books, comic books, license plate, flags, cups, you name it and I probably had it).Ended up selling it when I moved as I didn't have the space for it.

That's awesome, if I were rich I'd buy them off you.
He was my favourite player too, I collected cards and bought Beckett magazine in the 90s.

Just reading that line about you tearing the card up into 3 smaller cards made me cringe... I probably would have done the same tho. Lol.

i once found a michael jordan rookie card loose in my brother's shoebox of cards.
he was a dominique wilkins fan or an hakeem olajuwan fan or something that for some reason made him dislike michael jordan.
anyway, he had used a pencil eraser to erase michael jordan's head on that card.
my roller coaster of emotions (MJ rookie card! yay! MJ's face has been defaced! oh nooo!).. i think i still have post traumatic symptoms from this today.

Those are very nice. The "Sign of the Times" card is my favorite.

Just a question, are basketball cards worth anything now a days?
I have a Michael Jordan one that is in a glass frame that was worth maybe 50 bucks in the 90s.

Probably a dollar now.
Kidding aside, post the picture or look it up on eBay. MJ cards should hold value better than other cards but the whole trading cards in the 90's have tanked so hard.

Lol. I know. Actually looking back, I think it was worth $80 at the time, according to the becket. IDK anymore. My brother is gonna visit me here in Portland soon, I'm hoping he brings some of my stuff back and if I get my cards I'll post the pic so you guys can all laugh at it with me.

My friends and I started collecting basketball cards in '88 - We completed the 88-89 Fleer set one pack at a time by trading our doubles among each other - Great times.
I still have the set - I will give it to my son when he's old enough.
http://www.cardboardconnection.com/1988-89-fleer-basketball-cardsNice set, but too bad it wasn't the 86-87 Fleer set though.
Kevin Johnson is my favorite player also. I had a plaque made with his photo and both his rookie cards (Hoops & Fleer). I had the plaque in my room until I graduated from college. It was in storage until my wife hung-it-up again along with my other Suns stuff, when she wanted to create a Suns theme in a portion of our tv room. We moved a couple of years ago, and unfortunately the new house doesn't have the wall space for the Suns stuff - so it's in the attic.

Recently purchased a 1993-1994 Upper Deck Locker box for a mere $5. Came with 4 packs of cards. I would say this is about the best pulls one can get from this set. Was pretty happy.

A favorite of mine as well. I also really like the patch card that has a little bit of the vintage orange on it.
Not in picture is an autographed Upper Deck Kevin Johnson card I received when I wrote him back in my elementary school days. He wrote back telling me his favorite book as a child. Will post in a couple months.

That fleer set is a
very nice set. Your son will definitely appreciate it when he is old enough to understand the value it has.
