What players can we compare TJ Warren to?

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Sun Nov 1, 2015 2:03 am

I have heard him compared to Bernard King, so I pulled up some videos (I never watched Bernard King as I was too young), and not only does he seem to play a similar game to him, he kind of looks like him.

Who else do you think his game is like?

Watching Bernard King's highlights it looks like King molded his game from TJ Warren.

I think it's because the midrange game has basically disappeared up the ranks. It's either inside or 3 pointers. He also reminds me a little bit of Grant Hill also, in shot selection (not the rebounds, assists, or dominance).

Early on he reminded me a little of Shawn Marion. Young Shawn Marion wasn't a very good shooting from distance, but had great nose around the basket. Of course over time, Marion exploded into a beast of a player and at one point was one of the best players in the league. We'll have to wait and see if Warren gets even close to that.

Can't think of a better choice than King. I was thinking maybe Drexler, but Drexler was faster (with those long strides and elevation) and was a better passer.

Poor man's Glenn Robinson at this point. but if he develops consistent 3 though, whole other set of possibilities.

not as explosive/athletic as richard dumas, but he reminds me of dumas the way he finds space and moves along the baseline.

Oh, Richard Dumas. What could have been. Imagine if we had him in 94 and 95.

He's got a floater like Tony Parker and he can move without the ball like Ray Allen (obviously without the 3 point shooting)

Troublesome there is no current excelling player to compare him to. Game has changed so much just in the last 5 years. I hope his skill set for a person of his measurables still has a place for success in the NBA, for us Suns fans sake.

If he can score 15+ ppg on good efficiency (and I'm sure he can do that) I don't care if he do this in old fashioned way or in modern way.

T.J. Warren, Suns forward with Burns & Gambo (11/5)

He seems an smart, mature and quiet guy.
