We're Suns fans, we don't know what that is.
Twice as a Suns fan I thought we had championship calibre teams. In 1995 and 2005. So I am used to not expecting a championship. The last time we had that stretch (in between 96 and 04 we only made it out of first round once and missed the playoffs a few times), the times we got lottery picks we took Marion and Amare at around 9th or 10th and then traded vets for JJ who was a 10th pick. Then we just added a guy that glued it all together.
Now our three lottery picks are Len, Warren and Booker. Avg draft position around 10 (a little over 10).....so can we build with them like we did with the last three? Is McD as good at drafting as the Colangelo's?
The way Hornacek has been, he would not even play players like Amare, Marion, or Johnson when they were rookies. It is like he has an aversion to rookies. People can argue all they want about the Suns current rookies not having the natural talent as a guy like Amare but I do not buy it. Warren averaged 25 ppg and 7 rbs on 53% fg during his last year in college. That means he can score the ball. Warren basically never played last year for the Suns until some games at the end. Booker shot 41% 3pts and 47% fg overall as a freshman and everyone is asking why he is not playing. Hell Sonny Weems is playing over him.
Rookies always played when Colangelo was the owner. That hardly ever happens anymore. Idk if it has to do with Sarver not being as proactive as Colangelo was and telling the coach to play the rookies, or if it the coach's decision to bench the rookies. Either way it is ridiculous. These rookies are talented. Play them already.
