Defense and ball movement

Just some thoughts:

- Ball movement is key to wins. At least Hornacek recognized this and hopefully will improve it.

- Our defense does not seem as good lately.

- San Antonio and GSW are top 3 in assists. Well coached team ball wins games.

- Why can't we play defense like San Antonio? The reason they are so good is because they play defense that is head and shoulders above us and every other NBA team. I love how they pressure the ball. I love how every defender is up in the jockstrap of the guy they are guarding. They make you work for every step and every pass. Compare that to us (and almost every other NBA team) where we freely allow passes (especially on the perimeter) and never trap opposing guards. It's a shame really...and a lack of effort. San Antonio is good just because Pop forces them to play with full effort on defense.

Its come to the point where our offence has become too predictable, and although we are scoring well, we are working much harder than we need to.

Watch the great teams such as SAS and GSW, their offensive scheme relies on a heavy passing game, generating ball movement which in turn generates very easy shots. The majorty of GSW's points come from open threes, or open layups just because they move the ball so well and dont overdribble.

However us, we rely too much and Bledsoe and Knight to CREATE plays off the dribble, instead of letting the ball do the work for the team.


The Steve Nash's of old have lost their effectiveness. Gone are the days where a point guard in the engine to creating plays for the whole team. This new era requires ball movement from ALL players which creates shots for the entire team.
