Fresh 2016 NBA bench rumble: There is active buzz in coaching circles that Mike D'Antoni will be on Suns' list if/when that job comes open
https://mobile.twitter.com/espnsteinline/status/684017448513843200I don't know if this is a good idea, but at least is a change of culture and a different direction. I am on board.

We're so bad anything vaguely good seems like like the best thing ever.

I'm at the point where if Jeff is still this team's head coach next year, I don't think I could watch any more games. He was dealt a bad hand, but he has done a stupendously awful job given that fact. He is the most deserving person of losing their job on this team aside from Markieff.
Mike would make our offense really damn good. We wouldn't have a Nash type, but we'd use our overall athleticism and shooting much better than we do now. I'd prefer a more balanced coach, but our defense is so bad under Jeff that even Mike may be an improvement on that end at this point.

Dantoni is either really good or really bad so that approach suits me.

Our defence wasnt even that bad under Mike D, that was always overblown. We were average, which is alot better than where we are now.
The reason why we struglled under Mike is because Amare couldnt box out, and henceforth our rebounding on both ends (but most importantly the defensive end) was terrible, which lead to more possessions for the other team.
I will be on board for Mike next year.

Sixers will fire their coach this season and hire MDA mid-season as the replacement coach.

Our defense would be even worse under D'Antoni and we don't have the type of players that suit his offense so bringing him back would be a huge mistake.
D'Antoni had a much more talented Lakers and Knicks team and still pretty much underachieved in both stints.

I like it. He'll have Booker and Warren averaging 20 points per game before the season ends.

The thing that I really love about D'Antoni is that he brings us closer to Steve Nash. With him like a HC, Nash probably will come like an assistant or something like that.

They just gave Brett Brown a 2-yr extension - he gets them to play hard all game every day so I can't see them canning him, even for D'Antoni.

Again, we don't have a floor general to run the team. Mike would be unsuccessful without that.

Question - Is it possible to have Mike D'Antoni coach the rest of the season (interim coach?) then come to decision at offseason to keep or not? Serious question.
Would love to see him on the bench with his hands in his pockets, flaming face to the refs one last time.

Garbage
He did not inherit a talented Knick team or Laker team. That is absolute nonsense. The Lakers looked good on paper but everyone was injured and Kobe along with Gasol wanted no part of Nash and Howard changing the way they did things. It was never going to work. Mike got them as far as anyone could have with the exception of maybe Phil Jackson.
When he took over the Knicks they were loaded with bad players with bad contracts. He was turning them around prior to the Melo acquisition. The Knicks dumped all of the key players to Denver that were part of the turn around Mike made in New York. Melo would not buy in to Mikes philosophy that the ball finds energy. Melo had to have the ball in his hands. The owner supported Melo, Mike walked.
In LA the Lakers were 0 and 8 when he took over and he got them to the playoffs despite injuries to Howard, Nash and Gasol. Kobe went down in the first round of the playoffs, then everyone left while blaming all their problems on MDA. What a joke.
What is amazing is how Gasol thought he was marginalized by D'Antoni. Mike took him away from the basket so Howard would have room to work while putting the ball in Gasol's hands at the top of the key. In that Gasol is a very good passer he thought he could make both Gasol and Howard more productive. I think Mike had it right. What is amazing is that is where the Bulls have put Gasol in their offense and he makes a living shooting and making jumpers from the top of the key. The difference being is that in Chicago Gasol did not have Kobe in his ear. Gasol and Howard also despised each other, watch films. It actually was Kobe and Gasol against any change. It is rumored that Pau will leave the Bulls this off season for Memphis. I expect he will make the sacrifices Mike requested if he plays with his brother. The whole LA scene was really unbelievable. Mike should never have taken that job. I think he did it for Nash and Jerry Buss.
The Lakers have only got worse since Mike left. The Knicks finished off the season that Mike left pretty well but have sucked since. I think the Knicks success was more a result of Melo trying to prove a point while trying to convince everyone that is not an ass clown. Mike and Melo obviously did not like each other. I like Mike's choice of friends. The Knicks still suck.

Green font question - if Mike D'Antoni comes back, can Dan D'Antoni return as well and be our defensive coach???

Can we, maybe...just once...try to build a defensive minded team? This run and gun crap is so old.
Hopefully this rumour is only that, a rumour.

Man, it's sad how desperate this team is getting in trying to recapture even a small part of past glory days.
