Poll - Would you trade Keif for an expiring

Since this seems to be a hot debate on the trade thread I figured we might as well have a poll. I completely get both sides of the argument.

It's a tough call because he's a complete idiot but I'm voting "no". My reasoning is it's already a lost season so it's not a big deal keeping him around. I also think there's a decent chance everyone from the front office down gets fired after the year so might as well let the new group decide what to do with him. Now if we can get even a late first or a decent flyer young guy who's buried on a bench I'm all for moving him.

The problem is it sounds like we've been offered at least a late first rounder for him and wanted more. Woj (who is pretty reliable) said we won't just accept a pick but want that young player in addition, which very likely means we were at least offered a first round pick from someone.

I have yet to hear one good reason for doing so. Still waiting.

Trade him now for the best offer available. I hate this guy and his attitude. Don't want him anywhere close to our young guys.
Why would his value rise in the offseason? Maybe he will do some stupis s#it that will make him totally unmovable? It's not less likely than him increasing his value imo.

I just don't want to see this clow again playing for my fav team. If this makes me stupid then I'm sorry.

Well if they really turned down a 1st then I think it was just another mistake McD has made in his disastrous 12 months. But I would like to see what the deal actually was. If it was say a super late 1st and they would have to take back a bad contract that ran past this year then I get why they would turn that down.

No this doesn't make you stupid at all. I voted no but I totally get why people don't want to see this idiot ever again. Believe me I'll be actively rooting against him and his idiot brother for the rest of their careers. Two of my least favorite players to ever put on an NBA uni.

Yes, I guess it certainly could have been a first plus a crappy long term contract and then that GM who got rejected calls up Woj to try and make McD look bad. But assuming that IS what happened would be really giving McD the benefit of the doubt.

It was really about just cutting your losses and taking the highest bid at the deadline, not specifically seeking out only an expiring contract. Obviously a pick would be preferable, but he's only worth what someone will pay.

Even with Harris on our team now, I think the Pistons would be fools to give up on trying to acquire Kief. If you guys would take our 1st for him I would do it in a heartbeat.

I would but assuming you can't absorb his contract, who could you send out? Unless it's a good player, we would not want long term money tied up in anyone we would have to take back.

Hang on to him until we actually get close to his worth. If he continues averaging 18+ and 7 the rest of the way more teams will approach us in the summer.

I'm holding out for this. It's an incredibly small sample size (5 games) and fans who want to move Kieff now have every right to disregard the 21/8/5 on almost 6FT's a game but if he does continue doing 18/6/3 the rest of the way, teams will want that.

I totally get people calling for us to cut our losses and parts of me agree we should do that too but right now, I really don't see a compelling reason to move him for less. I don't think he's doing his team mates any more harm than he did earlier in the season when he was straight up tanking it. I do feel that he's been given more responsibility and a bigger role which I think is motivating him to play harder.

No team in their right mind would feature Kieff as their Number 1 go to scoring option, this production won' translate on a contender where he will have to actually buy into a system and play within the flow of the offense in a smaller capacity. Obviously he's gunna put up inflated numbers when he's given the green light to showcase himself

I can see a team like Cleveland offering a future first for Markieff, in that case might as well hold out till next summer and try and package him for a better deal.

Mid first round pick I would deal him though.

I'm not suggesting those numbers would translate on a contender nor would he be a #1 scoring option either. I'm suggesting if he continues playing well, teams, contending or not, will see he's capable of playing at a high level and is a guy that can step up and give you 18/6 when your 1st or 2nd option are struggling.

No late lotto/fringe playoff team will want him . Woj reported that Toronto is no longer interested and they had the less favorable Knicks/Nuggets pick that could possibly be Top 10

I'm starting to wonder if Toronto really IS interested and Masai and McD are playing games. Because I can't think of a young player we could want from someone who may want Kieff other than one of their young guys....maybe one from Houston.

Maybe just do what have been done with Dragic? Unprotected pick in let's say 2020 and hope that team would be bad by that time. It worked for Boston :P

Thinking much the same

When I first saw the Woj tweet saying the Raps simply don't want Morris, it made me think...ahh! Posturing by Ujiri? Talks between the Suns and Raps might actually be or were pretty serious if Toronto purposely leaked.

Where do we think kieff will land?

I believe he will be moved by the deadline for at least a first rounder...

Question is where
