I mean, we gotta swing for the fences. The fact this guy is so raw and has only played for a couple of years, I can't even imagine the upside. I know most vote Sabonis, and he is a safer pick who will always be of value, but I seriously doubt he is going to be a star player.
Chriss might not be either, but the sky seems to be the limit, and being able to block shots AND hit 3s as a PF is extremely rare and is valuable in today's league...that is why Tyson would be nice to still have if we take him...Len as well...those are two elite rebounders who compensate for his weaknesses, but also guys he can learn from on boxing out and getting those rebounds....and then add the athleticism. I have a feeling he is going to go really high....much higher than most mocks...like top 7 or 8...I think Ford might have him at 8, but I wouldn't be surprised if McD took him as high as 3 or 4. Is Bender really a better prospect than him?
I can say that Chriss seems more low IQ and has a high foul rate, and of course the rebounding is a problem, and Bender is probably a little bit of the opposite, but Chriss just shows that potential of an Ibaka/Amare hybrid, and that is hard to pass up imo. I just don't know why you take a guard in front of him no matter how high our pick is.
I think my biggest surprise by poll results is that so many vote Rabb, when we don't need a rebound/lane clogger, and he screams John Henson to me, or another swing guy over a stretch blocking super athletic PF.
Sabonis I can kind of understand, and I was all about him with the Cavs pick or maybe even the Washington pick if Chriss is gone.

If Hield and Dunn are gone I would pick Luwawu at #6 or #7.
This guy is gonna be the new "french sensation".

Jaylen Brown at 4 and Chriss with the WAS pick. Then it is a good draft for me. With Brown we draft a defender at the 3, so we can trade Tucker. For me, Chriss has star potential. We really need to pick him. I love his playing style. He is very young and athletic.
Please don't draft another guard. With Bogdan coming over next year, we have enough talented young guards.
I love our young core with Booker, Bogdan, Warren, Len and our two rookies

Im with BGWood on this one. Good call on spotting Chriss potential so early. Dang, the dunks and blocks are spectacular - highlight reel worthy even. What am i missing? Why isnt he rated higher? Is it his defense? Obviously he needs to bulk up, but if thats his only limitation, id pick him at no4. He obviously wont last til 13. He is one tier above Rabb and Skal in my opinion. Im torn over Ellenson though, he is potentially a good fit for us too..

If we end up at 6 or 7, I would not be unhappy with Chris or Skal. Both have really high upside. I really like Sabonis, but at #13, not at #1-7.
Skal is really interesting to me. He looked very good against KAT in the past, and was rated higher than Simmons at the beginning of the year. But Calipari tried to play him as a post-up type inside player this year and it demoralized him. He is really an incredibly long, athletic, skilled, stretch 4. He might be the ultimate "swing for the fences" pick. High ceiling, low floor. Look how much better KAT has looked since being unleashed from Calipari's role and playing free in the pro game.

From Draft.net....
http://www.nbadraft.net/2016-extended-nba-mock-40"In a draft year with a lot of polarizing players, Skal gets the award for being the most polarizing Some continue to point back to how dominant he looked at last year's Hoop Summit, while others feel that that was misleading considering the opponents he faced and him rising so fast into the top pick discussion was never legitimate. His season at Kentucky certainly did his draft stock no favors. He's an extremely sensitive kid. And the constant challenges from Coach Cal which bring out the best in many kids, had the opposite effect on him. Regardless, the hype and expectations that has been placed upon him also did him no favors as many were as quick to dismiss him as they were to overhype him. Labissiere is still new to the game, and his feel and the speed of high level competition is still something that he's adjusting to. There's a lot of talent here, with his tremendous shooting ability, along with high level size and mobility. He doesn't seem to understand how to utilize his athleticism and may never fully realize his massive upside, but there's still a lot to work with and he could really thrive if the right coach believes in him and builds up his confidence. NBA Comparison: Channing Frye"
Channing Frye comparison??? Hate the word "sensitive" to describe a player. Was KAT ever described as sensitive or Booker? Pass on Skal for me...

He's literally the worst rebounder in washington state. Rebounding is not something that dramatically improves over your career.

The dunk at 4:10 definitely had shades of amare. I can see the similarity, but kid definitely needs to hit the weights if he's going to be a 4.

Chriss compares more to Marvin Williams than to Amare.

We're gonna end up with the 6. pick, mmw.
That doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, tho, if we pick Chriss and hopefully one of the Rabb/Sabonis lasts to that 13. spot. They're like two neighboring pieces of puzzle with their strengths/weaknesses and we have some kind of insurance - if one busts, there's another.
I'm just too skeptical (i have serious reservations even with Simmons and Ingram, not to mention others) about this class to be so much emotionally involved with the lottery outcome. Next year, tho, it certainly won't be the case.

I agree, the odds aren't great to get an All-Star with either pick, I'd be happy with 30%.

Ghost of Kleine wrote:For my part, I do agree that under my first observation, I made the amare comparison for chriss. His shooting style as well. I also thought his low ceiling was comparable to marvin williams just as Fischella said. That being said, I love the fact that he has working range out to the three point line, And his aggressiveness on defense is something this team sorely lacks.
Bottomline, He does have electrifying athleticism, And I think we definitely need more of that to compliment the skilled yet finesse style players on our team.
All in all, Should we fall outside the top 3, My Perfect draft would have me select Jaylen Brown at #4, Marqueese Chriss at #13 If he is there, If not.....Then Ivan Rabb or Skal Labisserie.
And finally, IF ... And I hope he would somehow be there, Thon maker with clevelands' Pick.
With where we are at right now, Barring some some sort of free agency miracle, We are obviously not realistically a playoff team for a bit more. So we can obviously put full focus into high risk high upside players such as these.
All three of these players, If developed correctly, Have enormous potential! And I feel could very well become perennial all-stars. Or at the very least, highly productive starters given their unique skillset, and explosive athleticism.
But do you honestly think our fans will have the patience for that? I mean, I'm pretty sure that has always been the strategy under this regime: Len was considered a high ceiling guy, Archie too, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Tyler Ennis and Devin Booker. All of those guys were young and high upside and the only one we haven't turned on yet are Booker and Bogdan - and it looks like Bogdan will be next on the chopping block if rumors are true about him signing this offseason. TJ is the only one who basically is what he was in college.

Just to compare how bad his rebounding is to another 6'8" power forward that cant rebound....Both last year in college.
Markieff - 13.6 pts, 8.5 rebs, 59% FG, 42% 3 pt fg, 1.1 blocks, and 2.8 fouls per game.
Chriss - 13.8 pts, 5.4 rebs, 53% FG, 35% 3 pt fg, 1.6 blocks, and 4.1 fouls per game.

He is a better offensive rebounder than defensive rebounder because he maneuver his way traffic, but still llacks the motor and physicality to box out and establish the inside position. He has a hard time judging and tracking the trajectory of the ball and over reties on his verticality to corral the ball at its highest point / reaching over the back , he won't get away with that at the next level

Yeah, that's the one thing Rabb is better at, and fewer fouls, but rebounding is not our biggest problem right now.

Those rebounding numbers are alarming. 8.6rpg per 40 and 10.7% rebounding rate is below average and it sits just under Channing Frye numbers. However, he does rebounding on the offensive end at a decent rate (lots of tip dunks from Youtube highlights).

Luwawu would be a much better value pick in the late lotto than reaching for Brown earl . I don't think he has Paul George upside or anything but I think he can be anywhere from a better shooting Shumpert to shorter Batum. His biggest concern is creating seperation off the bounce, tightening his handle and converting at the line as slasher
