Which playoff series was more frustrating, 95 or 07?

Even with all the crappy stuff that happened in 97 with the bloody nose, the questionable officiating in one game and the suspensions, I still lean to the 95 Rockets series being a bit more frustrating...maybe because it came down to a last second shot by one in game 7, but also blowing a 3-1 series lead, in which game 5 at home went into OT and we lost.

You could throw 94' in there as well. How many times has a team gone up 2-0 on the road and lost a 7-game series?

94, 95, and 07 were all frustrating. The Suns should have three championships. But in 94-5, WE choked. I hang that on Barkley.

In 07, how do you let one team receive a horrible cheap shot, and no response from the offended team, but suspend two key players because they took a step onto the court. It defies reason. Absolutely defies reason.

The reason I didn't mention that year was because I didn't expect to win that series going into it, and I thought one of our first two wins was extraordinarily lucky (I can't remember the specifics, but we came back from like 20 down or something on unbelievable shooting...maybe I have this wrong but I remember one of those wins being crazy and extremely improbable).

Of course, being up 2-0 with three games left at home, we still should have won that series though. jcsunsfan I see blames Barkley, and I think he tended to party a bit after he thinks we have such control of the series, we win, and it cost us. I think it certainly cost us in 95 game 5. He didn't seem terribly clutch either, where KJ was, which was in and of itself frustrating when Barkley tried to do too much in these types of games on offense.

Not as old as some of you salty dogs so I'm gonna have to say the 07 series was pretty damn frustrating. ;)

Barkley partied after and played golf on game days, even though he was having back problems,

Nothing wrong with that IMO. As long as you're not hungover during games. Players need to let off some steam.

Were there not rumors that he partied the night before game 5 in 95? He was 8-22 and 1-6 from the line.

... his twenty-second. He hit twenty-one consecutive free throws to start the game (his twenty-first tied the score at 110), which set a new record for the most consecutive made free throws in a playoff game (later tied by Paul Pierce in 2003 and broken by Dirk Nowitzki in 2011 when the latter went 24-24 in Game One of the Western Conference Finals). Then K.J. missed his twenty-second.

I had forgotten that back then you didn't get 3 free throws when fouled on a 3. Had that rule been in place we may have at least forced OT.

Actually, the NBA had instituted that rule prior to that season, so if the referees had decided that Majerle or Ainge was in the act of shooting on those final possessions, they would have received three free throws—hence the fact that Paul Westphal was holding up three fingers on the sideline.

The one with Ainge proved really close, and I was reviewing it quite a bit yesterday. In the end, I believe that the referees made the correct decisions in those cases.

The reach-in foul that they called on Kevin Johnson inside of a minute to play, which sent Kenny Smith to the foul line with just a few seconds remaining on the shot clock and the Suns up by one, was more dubious given that Johnson really seems to have just been in a defensive stance and that Smith blasted through his arm, as opposed to a reach-in. But the referees called this game very tightly on both sides, and they whistled a fair amount of ticky-tack fouls on both sides. A clear missed call, though, came in the first half when Johnson cleanly stripped the ball from Pete Chilcutt, yet the referees whistled him for a foul.

Definteky the 95 series, not many teams blow a 3-1 series lead and if went went on to thr finals I believd we would've beaten the Magic same as 07 if we advanced and played the cavs. The only problem was Spurs standing in our way and we could just never get over the hump when we had great talents between 05-09

on a positive note... two of my favorite series of all time were in the nash era and include our 3-1 ocmeback against the Lakers team in 2006. what suns fan didn't schadenfreude all over the floor after Kobe went 0-1 (or whatever) in the second half of game 7. Kobe never recovered and retired soon thereafter iirc.

and then there was the sweep of the Spurs in 2010. we swept timmy d but timmy d never swept us.

so.. yknow... we got that goin for us.

which is nice
