I get it...I really do, but in the 6 years he's been with them, their best season was last year at 33-49. He's not taking that team ANYWHERE. If I'm Vlade, I trade Cousins for as many young guys and '17 picks as I could acquire in a trade. And while I personally would not make this trade, if I was McD...if I was Vlade, I'd push for something along the lines of:
Booker, Warren, Knight, Bledsoe, and the Suns 2017 1st Rd pick, top 5 protected...
...for...
Boogie, Collison, and Gay
They 'free-up' $5M get 2 very nice up-and-comers in Warren and Booker, and two established, yet still young, players in Bledsoe and Knight, and our pick next year, to add to your young core of McLemore, Skal, and WCS.

NO!
I KNOW!...see above. I'm sayin', if I was Vlade...that's the type of trade I'd go after...dump Cousins and start over and get as much young talent as possible to go with the 3-4 pieces he has.
Vlade would be insane if he thought that were remotely possible. Considering the trade we've already made with him, I don't think he's an incredibly demanding guy.

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

There's no chance he's traded this year unless the return favors them. All trade ideas I've read so far favor us except the booker one (which wasnt an idea as much as it was to prove we can outdo Boston)
With the Warriors built the way they are right now, why do we want to trade for cousins? We'd be at best, 6-9 seed.
Next offseason is when we should look at big name free agents

I'd trade for him without giving up any good players, but not sure why Sac would. It would take Bender or Booker or both, so not worth it imo. Probably more likely Booker since they've been looking for a SG forever.
I think if the young guys are exciting and the culture is good the last thing Sarver would want is to bring in another person who could create problems.
I am kind of excited now to see what Knight, Bledsoe and Booker can do as a three guard combo. Adding in Ulis and Barbosa for special minutes.
I think this team has a very bright future - let it play out before making any other moves. Sure, trading Goodwin (and right now, I keep Jenkins over Goodwin) and maybe Tucker are fine. And yes, I think offloading Chandlers deal wouldn't be bad. But really see what Bledsoe, Knight, Booker, Warren, Len along with Bender and Chriss can build too
Gambo was talking yesterday about thinking a lotto pick is more valuable than getting the 8th seed and getting waxed in the play-offs. Grialou (sp) actually got him thinking straight. You have to start making playoffs and losing to grow as a team.

Well, he did take Papagiannis 13th overall...

I know what you are saying, though, and probably wasn't worth me posting in the first place. But yeah, I would hope he'd be more amenable to a reasonable offer, but if he thinks that highly of Cousins, you never know.
If I changed 'young guys' from Booker and Warren to Goodwin and Chriss, would change your mind at all? I just think, if Vlade is smart, he'll turn Cousins into 3-4 young, promising guys to add to his current stable, and maybe start back over; it doesn't appear that Cousins is bringing anyone out to Sacramento; maybe gamble on 3-4 younger guys I trade who don't have a choice???

Mulhollanddrive wrote:OK we traded for Knight and Chandler to make 8th seed.
And Gay is a similar type of player that would have fit that strategy a year ago.
I'm glad we aren't doing that anymore.
But see, that's where we don't know the 'impulse' behind those trades? We essentially traded IT for Knight, which might be looked upon the way you look at it, but I think most of us look at it as wanting a combo Guard vice strictly a PG, which IT was, and we just lost Dragic, who was??? A Combo Guard. So I look at that trade as a way of continuing to have two starter-level combo Guards.
Chandler wasn't to make the 8th seed...Chandler was likely brought in to help 'mentor' Len, but most importantly, to try to get LMA here.
So that's where most would agree. We might bring Gay in, but that wodln't signal trying to "make the 8th seed", it would be due to McD feeling he was a good fit for our team, which with Duds, Warren, and Tucker, I doubt that happens.

Why do people want overpay for Boogie AND acquire Rudy Gay?
Let someone else take Gay and lowball for Boogie. Sacramento is currently ****. That roster is awful and their front office has proven to be pretty inept. Don't save them by giving them a "King's Ransom".

because somewhere, somehow, a Suns fan will always want Rudy Gay. Every day of the week, there's a Suns fan out there who thinks, "yeah, we should get Rudy Gay."
Same goes for Thad Young.

NBA Fiend wrote:Things we know in regards to Cousins and the Kings. There is no way in the name gods green earth at the Kings will have any playoff success in the next two years. Cousins contract expires in two years and I would have a better chance of becoming an NBA All-Star than Cousins re-signing with the Kings. If the Kings owner has any sense of sanity he will trade Cousins by this deadline and I fully expect Boston and Phoenix to go to extreme measures to acquire him. If the Kings don't trade him they will be in the same boat as Oklahoma is in regards to Westbrook this year. Now I am not advocating the Suns selling the farm for Cousins because he could very well leave the Suns also.
I would expect the Kings to evaluate potential talent coming in for Cousins up until the trade deadline. So without further ado this is what I think McD is hoping to swing. Something along the lines of these players with picks.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hu78on6
Obviously Ainge has that Brooklyn pick to go along with a selection of these players. I am not saying all the players I am saying a selection of some of these players. Ironically enough Cousins and Thomas will be reunited once again.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hnqv5ev
Maybe TJ comes out and looks like a man possessed and sets the leauge on fire or Len pulls himself together. Perhaps Jaylen Brown becomes a Paul George Kawai/Leonard hybrid. Or Brandon Knight starts amassing triple doubles left and right. Once again just a topic of conversation in regards to what McD may have planned. And as always thank you for your continued support.
I think you have the right idea, but do you mind if I alter your trade some?? Because a was mentioned a pg or two ago, with Papa, WCS and Koufus, that person they want is Len...UNLESS...we take Papa off their hands, and we inherit their Center with "knee stiffness", which I'm betting our training staff can handle, so long as it's not a major injury, or we take on WCS...why is Vlade taking Papagiannis if he's happy with WCS???
But no, Vlade likely has a plan on how to use his 4 Centers, but doubt Len is what he'd want.
We'd have to give them...as much as it pains me to say...Warren or Booker, and since Warren is seen as a secondary piece by most (not me), he'd have to be included. But we'd also have to give them a potential guy, so we throw Chriss in as well (We're asking for Boogie, here, folks--he's not coming cheap, but expect Skal back in return), and we through in Goodwin o make the salaries work--Vlade doesn't want Tucker...sorry. And we have to take on Collison, so we can have Ulis and Price has Bench players. And depending on how you all look at Tucker or Dudley between SF and PF our Depth Chart would look like this.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hyhk29h
Collison/Price/Ulis
Booker/Jenkins/Barbosa
Gay/Tucker(Dudley)
Dudley(Tucker)/Bender/Williams/Skal
Cousins/Len/Chandler
EDIT: I forgot Barbosa, so took off Acy...
That's a Formidable Team, and has a the makings of a Big 3--for the next few years...
16/17--Cousins/Gay/Booker
17/18--Ulis/Booker/Cousins/Ulis
18/19--Ulis/Booker/Skal/Bender
eehh...eehh??? No? ...FINE...back to the drawing board, as we've entered the "NavLDO's CRAZY Trades" season...

Please don't mistake my trade idea above as 'wanting' Gay, but using the "we'll take on Gay...AND...give you a some nice young pieces...but you have to give us Boogie."
That's how I was looking at the trade idea. I don't think Gay would be very happy if someone took Boogie, and left him to rot in Sacramento; might be some serious locker room issues, there...so THAT's why I included Gay in the trade, not because I want Gay, but for a year?? Why not?? He'll surely opt out the following year so he can make an additional $8-10M in the '17/'18 season; someone will pay him...

Do you not get that it's the other way around? Gay is the one demanding a trade, leaving Boogie to rot in Sacramento.
Let someone else take Gay. Come in and poach Boogie.
Who cares if Gay is stuck rotting in Sacramento, anyway?

If we wait a couple years, we might be able to grab Boogie in FA. If we want him. At that point, we should know what we have in Len and TJ and have a pretty good idea what we have in Booker, Bender and Chriss.

OK, I like your idea. But I worry that if Gay is 'traded' to another team, we might lose a bit of bargaining power...but maybe not, who knows.
But you are right, I am not really a big fan of Gay. But as I stated, for One year?? I'd take that, so long as we get Boogie. Gay by himself??? Forget about it...

I don't believe that for a second. In today's NBA 1sts are like gold. I'm not sure any player is actually worth 3 first rounders let alone Boogie Cousins.

Have all of you dumping on Rudy Gay actually watched him since he went to Sacramento? I doubt it. No one watches Kings games. He's played fairly well for them and shot the ball well. He'd be the 4th option here if that trade went through, and he'd probably get a ton of open looks with so much attention paid to Booker and Cousins.

And I'd treat Chriss, Bender, AND Ulis as 1st Rd picks, so if they are included, at all. In fact, I wouldn't trade Bender and Chriss and Knight for Boogie, tbh. That's 2 top 8 picks, and a former top 8 pick, for Boogie. But that's just me. Those 3, to me, are likely to have a bigger impact than Boogie would to our team.

Busted--no I haven't. But to me, his age, combined with the fact that he would take all of Warren's minutes, leaves me not being interested...UNLESS...we get Boogie with him, and Warren was part of the pkg.
30YO with a career 34% 3PT%, which he shot exactly last year, along with a .359 last year, and a .312 the year before that...no thanks.

Wow. That takes him off the market like he was supposed to be in 2018.
