Chances of each player being traded?

Post#1 » by Damkac » Fri Sep 23, 2016 8:44 am

How do you judge the chances that each of Suns players will be traded in the coming season?

Very low chance <10%

Devin Booker - for now he is the face of the franchise and fans would be mad if he would be traded.

Low chance 10-20%

Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss - can't see Suns will trade them so early without knowing how well could they develop.

TJ Warren - didn't had much chances to shine so far but when he got minutes and touches he looked like a great scorer. I think he is very underrated around the league and Suns won't get a fair value for him.

Alex Len - some posters think Suns may prefer to trade him than to give him big money but you have to pay your center anyway so why not pay the guy you drafted?

Tyler Ulis - nice reserve PG who costs almost nothing.

Rather low chance 20-30%

Eric Bledsoe - Suns best player at the moment and I like his activity this offseason. But if the season won't go well Suns might want to trade him and tank. Especially with next draft being so PG-heavy.

PJ Tucker - many fans want him traded but Suns value him much for some reason.

Jared Dudley, Leandro Barbosa - brought here for leadership, they may be traded but not next season imo

Average chance 30-40%

Brandon Knight - he won't be starting and may not be pleased being 6th man. Trading for him was unnecessary.

Tyson Chandler - he won't be pleased playing on bad team another year.

High chance >40%

Archie Goodwin - he won't get any minutes and was complaining about it already.

I would agree with above however I think it's best to place players in tier categories as opposed to percentages. Like, I'd say percentage wise it is completely off, Booker is likely under 1%, Archie Goodwin with the highest tier I'd put him at maybe a 8-10% chance of getting traded.

Booker- Tier 1 (never going to happen)
Bender/Chriss - Tier 2 (better be getting a multi-star, or almost impossible too)
Warren/Len/Ulis - Tier 3 (Package players for an all-star, but highly unlikely)
Bledsoe - Tier 4 (Should be getting high draft picks for him, or trade for an all-star, still maybe 5% chance at best)
Chandler/Knight/LB/Dudley - Tier 5 (Possibly for expiring contracts and future late pick(s), maybe a young player, Not likely to make a trade unless the player request it.)
Goodwin - Tier 6 (trade for another young player that hasn't found time on current team)

How do you judge the chances that each of Suns players will be traded in the coming season?

Very low chance <5%

Devin Booker - for now he is the face of the franchise and fans would be mad if he would revolt if traded. Letsgosuns might have a heart attack, but honestly I probably would too.

Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss, Tyler Ulis - can't see Suns will trade them so early without knowing how well could they develop and they would NEVER risk trading Ulis, being Booker's best friend.

Low chance 5-10%

TJ Warren - hasn't had much chance to shine so far but when he got minutes and touches he looked like a great scorer. He looks like our future at the 3 and at the very worst, an elite scorer off the bench, but he deserves to start this year at some point.

Eric Bledsoe - Suns best player at the moment and McD's first move as a GM. He is clearly the leader of this team, at least until Booker takes it over.

Alex Len - McD's first ever draft pick. We've been bringing him along and embracing him. We control him for 5 more years. I don't see us trading him unless it is a S&T when he is a RFA because someone offers him a ton, but I don't think it will happen. A lot depends on how he plays this year but given that Dudley says he thinks him and Ulis will surprise the most, that's encouraging.

Jared Dudley, Leandro Barbosa - brought here for leadership, they won't be traded any time soon.

Decent chance 10-25%

Brandon Knight - he won't be starting and may not be pleased being 6th man. Trading for him was unnecessary.

Tyson Chandler - I am unsure how he feels. I think he really likes Watson and may be ready to embrace where we are. But maybe not. He could possibly be in next tier but for now I'll leave him here.

Good chance >25%

Archie Goodwin - he won't get any minutes and was complaining about it already.

PJ Tucker - last year of contract..someone will pay him next offseason and we basically replaced his vet leadership/heart of team mentality with Dudley, and also have Warren, Bender and Dudley who can all play the 3.

Oh, and Alan Williams is untouchable. At least that's what his mom says.

I agree with bwgood77 list. I don't think Ulis, Bender or Chriss are in the same category though. I think they are in the next category up. Considering both Bender and Chriss play the same position, if we were to lose one to a trade, it isn't the end of the world. Ulis I'm not sure belongs in that close to untouchable category either that Booker definitely deserves to be in. I don't see them being moved though.

I'd say Tucker and Knight are my best guesses for a trade right now and pre-deadline
Chandler might be one option too if we're in a super tank mode (his contract looked very tradeable after this FA)
Goodwin might be just waived or in a best scenario he'll be attached with any of those players to 'upgrade' our offer

While trading Tucker may seems logical, for some reason FO have much love for him.

100% for every player not named Archie Goodwin. He's the future of the franchise.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Knight and Goodwin. Really hoping for team unity. Learn, improve and win together.
