Second Round Pick Discussion (32&54)
Here is a couple of 2nd round prospects that the suns are said to have their eye on(per Doug Haller/ az central.com).
Among those the Suns might consider June 22:
NBA draft: Suns' possible 2nd-round targets include Oregon's Dillon Brooks
In addition to the fourth overall pick, the Suns have two second-round selections.
Check out this story on azcentral.com: http://azc.cc/2qVIdPN .
Dillon Brooks: Winning Pac-12 Player of the Year hasn’t often meant much on draft day. Over the past five years, only one – Utah’s Jakob Poeltl last year – was selected in the first round. Brooks, this year's winner, appears destined for the same fate. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an NBA future. A 6-7 forward, Brooks has the toughness required for survival, but he’ll have to improve his perimeter jumper.
“Brooks is really good at the point of attack,” said Pac-12 Networks analyst Mike Montgomery, a former college and NBA coach. “He’s really a good driver, slasher, finisher. He’s a tremendous competitor, but he’s got to be a two-guard.”
Semi Ojeleye: The SMU product who began his career at Duke offers position versatility. At 6-7, he can play both forward positions. Some think Ojeleye even could play center in small lineups.
His best attributes include high energy, an NBA body and an understanding of who he is. After a junior season in which he averaged 19 points and shot 42.4 percent from 3, Ojeleye was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
D.J. Wilson: There’s a reason you’ll find the 6-10 Wilson in the first round of some mock drafts. A late-bloomer, the Michigan junior forward has lots of upside. If he stays in the draft – Wilson has until Wednesday to decide – he could go in the 25-40 range.
Positives: The Suns need length and Wilson has it. In addition to his size, he has a 7-3 wingspan. He also is athletic enough to defend on the perimeter.
Concerns: He’s not ready physically. And outside of a hot finish – Wilson averaged 16.3 points during the Big Ten and NCAA tourneys – he was simply average.
Thomas Bryant: With Phoenix bigs Alex Len and Alan Williams approaching restricted free agency, the Suns may want to find a replacement option just in case. The 6-10 Bryant averaged 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds his sophomore season at Indiana. He shot 38.3 percent from 3.
“He’s going to have to show that he’s athletic enough to be able to guard on the perimeter, as all big guys have to do in the league right now,” ESPN college analyst Fran Fraschilla said. “It helps that he shot the ball well. He didn’t have a good year scoring inside, in my opinion, didn’t play with the kind of toughness that I think Indiana expected from him. But he’s young and he’s a big kid who’s reasonably mobile and, from all indications, he’s got a high character and is a worker.”
Who would you guys like to see the suns take in the 2nd round, and what 2nd round prospects do you think would compliment our core the most?

I like ojeleye especially if they go pg at 4. If they go sf at 4 then its a little crowded at the f spot.
I'd love bam at 32 but doubt he lasts that long.
It might be a little early at 32 but I'm really high on josh hart. Older prospect but could be an NBA ready guy if he embraces a 3 and d role.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Yeah, someone mentioned Josh Hart being underrated and could be the next Brogdon on the GB nba draft thread.

I really wish they could somehow get Jeanne, But should we miss out on Jackson, Jaron Blossomgame is said to be a very explosive shutdown defender. And I believe he carried a 45% 3 point percentage in his senior year. I also like Thomas Bryantat #54, for his size and physical post play, But am concerned that he might be too similar to what "Big Sauce" already gives us.
Any other 2nd rounders you guys think might have "diamond in the rough" potential. Anyone spot a 2nd rounder with some "Draymond Green" potential?

It looks like we got a good 2nd round pick last year in Tyler Ulis who had similar accolades in college to Draymond Green. There's also potential to draft somebody in the DeAndre Jordan mold: athletic with the blueprint skills but needs to develop further.

Caleb Swanigan at #32, especially if we don't go big (ie Isaac) at #4...but even then maybe.

I do not think he will be there, but if he is available at #32 it is a no brainer IMO.
An hybrid between Harrell and Zach Randolph, he eats space and has a good touch and shooting. I think he is gonna be effective as a C, great stength and big wingspan.

Hoping for Thornwell. I like the idea of him taking all the backup SG minutes right out of the gate.

Re: Suns rumored 2nd round prospects of interest
Of those guys I like the idea of Thomas Bryant at 32 the most. He fits the modern center of being able to shoot the 3 ball well, punishes players in the post on switches, and rebounds pretty well. He needs to continue developing as a shot blocker and keep working on his body, but he's still a young as a sophomore that will just turn 20 at the end of July. Semi is pretty interesting too if we don't go wing at #4, NBA-ready body, hard worker on both ends, and looks like he can shoot the ball well from deep.

Tony Bradley is where I would go if he is still around. Then grab and stash Jonathan Jeanne for a couple of years.

So many solid options here. Liking the PJ trade more and more.

Jeanne's probably a first rounder. And IIRC he wants to come over right away.

Fultz if he falls to 32. Otherwise, I'll just trust you guys as I know nothing about anyone that late in the draft:)

My guy josh hart in for a workout today.
Kobi Simmons also in today. He could be an interesting guy at 54 who you could stash up in Flagstaff for a couple years and see what happens.

Maybe, but NBADraft and DX either have him under #50 or not at all. I haven't seen a list yet that has him in the first round, though I obviously see some talent there. And so if you go in the late 2nd round you have liited options to determine your own fate and force a team to bring you over right away. He is 7'2" and is more mobile than Gobert, though not quite as long I don't think. He is more in the mould of Porzingis/ Bender.
Also, I should add that although I don't think Adebayo will be there at 32, if he is go for Adebayo over Bradley. I didn't even mention him there because most boards have had him going higher until recently. NBADraft has him at 14 and DX at 32

Oh, I never look at NBADraft. Draft Express has had Jeanne at #24 since he impressed at the combine.
