Davon Reed Thread

Post#1 » by NTB » Fri Jun 23, 2017 4:03 am

6'6 with a 7' wingspan
22 yo
%40 3pt shooter
3&D guy

Only 1.6 fouls in 35.3 minutes per game and 1.3 steals.

Seems like a good backup for Booker and fits our needs. Welcome R33D!

Considering everyone slotted this guy LATE in the second round at best, McD must have really seen something in this guy that he loves.

We definitely did our due diligence bringing lots of guys in that range in. I figure he knew the top 5 was easy and you can't go wrong there so he focused on this range really hard and hopefully saw things people missed

They desperately needed a 3 and wing and he fits that mold. Haven't seen enough of him to have much of an opinion but love the length.

They should target another undrafted 3 and d wing for the new spit contract and stash up in Flagstaff.

Gambo nailed this pick

There were several players that interested me here but I loved this pick regardless of where he was "mocked" to go.

I'm still salty that the Lakers stole my guy Josh Hart at 30. But I guess it's better than if he would have been there and the suns would have passed on him for Reed. I knew the mocks putting Hart in the mid 2nd round were silly.

I think Hart might have still been there past us if the Lakers hadn't grabbed him. Prior to the combine, Hart was probably one of the more popular targets for the end of the first/start of the second but the measurements probably moved players like Reed a little higher. Hart's wingspan is pretty good but Reed measured extremely well. Besides, it's the Lakers, he'll probably be packaged with Randle and Deng as a salary dump before you know it.

Been watching as many vids as I can find on Reed and I'm still pretty torn on him. Yes, he has the measurables, but I'm just not seeing his defense translating as well as others are I guess. His shooting looks pretty solid though.

He's still a young guy though and with his athleticism, he could become a really good 3&D guy further down the road...just not sure if he'll be able to put it all together. Like scouts have said, he's a super high potential guy.

He has one of the easiest jumpers I have ever seen. Some players have a smooth shot, but his looks like an effortless toss.

In his vids he looks like he could play PG. A little slow footed compared to a few, but his handles looked pretty good. A dangerous weapon to pair with Book, if his 3 ball maintains its clip once he's in the league.
