I was gagging for this guy after his last SL performance - him and Josh Harrellson both should have made it out of camp.
Good to see the "Euroleague's most electrifying combo guard" is on his way. I remember thinking Weems was going to be a real 3 & D asset here...Yikes.
James is a pro, at worst he'll bring the same intensity Price gave us as a veteran defensive presence at PG.
I like James a lot though, he's got some real skill and athleticism to his game - just hope he gets a chance...ie Knight gets dealt!

I want to know if his contract is guaranteed for the season or if it is even a multi-year contract. Hopefully it is, good third string PG.

Yeah, I think he's an excellent pickup especially if we are letting Barbosa go. And even more so if Bledsoe is likely to be moved by the all star break. If he's here because Eric will be traded, I could see us signing him to a two way contract and then moving him up full time when Bledsoe goes. I don't know much about the 2 ways though so maybe there's eligibility issues for a player this old?

I think we are pending the deal for Mike James because there might be trade opportunuties that we are waiting for.

http://www.nba.com/suns/press-release/suns-sign-mike-james-0Can someone explain to me how is he able to sign a contract before the moratorium ended? Do you guys have more info on this? Is this a two-way contract or one of those 'summer deals' so he can play in the summer league?
I'm 99.9% sure he's not able to sign a regular NBA contract before July 7th.

This is most likely a minimum salary contract.
Coon's CBA FAQ:
There are a few types of signings that are allowed to take place during the July Moratorium:
- Teams may sign their first round draft picks (to a standard rookie "scale" contract -- see question number 47)
- A second round draft pick can accept a required tender, which is a one-year contract offer teams must submit to retain their rights to the player.
- A restricted free agent can accept a qualifying offer from his prior team (see question number 42).
- A restricted free agent finishing the fourth season of his rookie "scale" contract can accept a maximum qualifying offer (see question number 42).
- A restricted free agent may sign an offer sheet with a new team (see question number 42), although the 48-hour matching period does not begin until the conclusion of the Moratorium.
- Teams may sign players to minimum salary contracts for one or two seasons, with no bonuses of any kind.
- Teams may sign players to Two-Way contracts (see question number 82), convert a Two-Way contract to a standard NBA contract, or convert a standard NBA contract with an Exhibit 10 to a Two-Way contract (see question number 83).
- Teams may waive players or claim players waived by other teams (see question number 64)

Could have signed in LV. Isn't the SL team there now? Either way... both places are ovens.

If this is true, he left a lot of money on the table. He had a much richer deal in Europe.

First and foremost, unlike most two-way players, the Suns have no intention of sending James down to the G-League at any point. That essentially means he’s set up on a 45-day contract with the team worth approximately $225,000. In that vein, this is a make-good deal. [...]
If he plays well and earns his spot, the Suns will have every incentive to convert his two-way deal into a standard player contract, and he’ll be well on his way to earning that big payday he mentioned.[...]
if his performance doesn’t materialize after his 45 days on the roster, he’ll likely be free to take his chance elsewhere.
If it would come to that, James’ agents feel confident that he can get a seven-figure payday overseas midway through the NBA season given the offers they had on the table before he signed.

Ugh. Hope it's a short stint.
