Can Diamonbacks hold on to make the playoffs? Do they have a chance if they get there?

Gotta start hitting better with runners on. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

It's not looking good. Losing the Dodgers & Cubs series hurt bad. If they want to make the playoffs they better start playing like a playoff team.

There's a few issues like having a closer with a 5 ERA, untimely hitting and losing RR. I hope they can make it but they haven't played well in quite some time. I thought that 7 hour game against the Cubs at Wrigley would turn the tides but it hasn't.

First part of the year, 20+ games over .500, obviously played well. But lack of depth in the minors was always going to be a problem and for me, it has shown up two ways:
1) the bullpen doesn't have possible reinforcements
2) the lack of farm, other than the JD Martinez trade didn't allow other trades
Look at KC - they gave up pretty decent POTENTIAL for Buchter, Maurer and Cahill - granted, they haven't been good in KC but the Dbacks lack of farm system didn't allow them to go for that type of deal. Hernandez has been solid
Lovullo also needs to put Drury in the lineup; and lastly, if nothing else, why the hell is he hitting his best player third. The guy needs more at bats, not the possibility for less.

I think our team is just regressing to the mean. It'll be a bumpy ride until October.

Their infield defense outside of Goldy worries me and it always seems like the lineup can't get hot at the same time. Right now Peralta and Goldy are on but Pollock and Lamb have been trash. Maybe Ray will give them a boost.

no, i don't expect them to make the playoffs. with the Dbacks they are either bad, or show signs of being a playoff team halfway through this season only for the optimism and playoff hopes to fade away as September comes closer.

They've made the summer more bearable with the lack of basketball.

Hopefully we'll be able to keep Martinez and find some AL team interested in Yasmany.
He needs to stay here... probably a 50HR guy if he plays there.

We can keep him. We owe it to Goldy and Greinke to keep a competitive team for the next few years.

Nobody is taking Tomas unless they pay 75% of his salary. He's basically a DH that can't hit RHP.
That signing should've been a hint that Stewart and La Russa couldn't evaluate young players.

That's good. I kind of hate the 1 game wildcard, particularly when 1 team is clearly ahead of everyone else. Not only that one game sends you home, but if you move on to the next series, you've wasted your best pitcher and they won't be able to pitch again for a bit.
I liked it better with 1 wildcard playing the overall best record
