2017 and now 2018 Fantasy Basketball Discussion

Post#1 » by Kerrsed » Tue Oct 10, 2017 5:52 pm

This is for discusion of all 3 leagues. If you are looking for trades or putting players on the trade block, make sure you include what league this is for to help eliminate any confusion. As always make sure you keep active, but more importantly, good luck and have fun!

This should be a busy thread!

I've moved my dynasty rankings from The Fantasy Fix over to Hashtag Basketball if anyone's interested.

Can find Jordan's H2H rankings and my Roto rankings https://hashtagbasketball.com/fantasy-basketball-rankings.

Myself and Jordan (not THAT Jordan Schultz who makes up the rumours!) are also doing a weekly dynasty specific podcast - can find it https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/dynasty-fantasy-basketball/id1291271378 if you're interested.

We're still ironing out the kinks as we record online and for some reason when we splice the tracks together it sounds like I'm ALWAYS talking over him towards the end of each sentence. And I'm not haha

And yes, of course I gave a shout-out to the Suns fantasy guys on there. Boom.

Looks like Drummond's going to be shooting 90% from the FT line this year...

Or not, remember Rudy Gobert last pre-season?

Don't jinx it, it'd be awesome for my team if Drummond suddenly learned to shoot FTs

He has a lot going for him. Just 2 seasons ago he was averaging around 7-8 FT attempts per game (And hitting an absurdly low percentage), but since the enacted that new rule, hiss attempts dropped down to around 4 per game, making him much more manageable. I read that he was real serious about working on his game in the offseason and a big part of that was helping create more arch on his FT shooting. Looks like it could have worked.

Let's hope so. Last year was supposed to be his big breakout, but Detroit had a lot of problems last season, mainly Reggie being hurt most of the season. It'd be a great surprise if he took another step forward this offseason.

My G League team has 4 rookies:

PG Lonzo Ball
PG Dennis Smith Jr
SF Josh Jackson
SG Malik Monk

Definitely a risk I'm taking, but Ball and Smith will start and play 30+ minutes, so they'll put up some raw counting stats based purely on being on the court. Jackson has shown flashes this preseason and could contribute across multiple categories (I'm expecting 10-12 pts, 4-5 rebs, 1-2 assists, 1 steal, 1 3 pointer?). I'm pretty confident that the first 3 will all contribute this season...Monk was a last round flier who has back to back 19 point games in the preseason so hopefully he can carry some of that over.

We'll see how it works out for me.

^This.

I was debating back and forth between drafting Drummond and Valanciunas in the Premier League draft, and went with Drummond after reading somewhere about how his free throw attempts dropped after the rule change.

Yip good luck all!

Here's our latest dynasty podcast, we do over/under on stats for around 25 players and give our good stats bad team All Stars selections. Hint...Devin Booker makes it. :D

Everyone feel free to jump over to Hashtag Basketball for rankings and analysis, as well as the r/fantasybball over at Reddit!

Notable G league team performances tonight

Paul George: 28 pts, 6 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk, 6 3’s
Kristaps Porzingis: 31 pts, 12 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk, 2 3’s
DeAndre Jordan: 14 pts, 24 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl, 4-4 FT ( :o )

Now they didn’t all shoot well, but I’ll take those statlines any day.

With Rondo being out and Holiday severely under preforming as the solidary PG in Nawlins, i really needed Ball to have a good game .........but NOPE! 2 days in and already getting my ass handed to me in assists and 3 pointers.

Well, at least in the Premier League, Im doing just FINE in the Dynasty league even with CP3 having a bum game last night.

Of course I left Al Farouq Aminu on the bench tonight for my dynasty league team.

He dropped 16/16/2/1/1 tonight with 2 3’s on 7-13 shooting. Smh

Yeah, I made a similar mistake last night because I thought Will Barton was injured and played Wilson Chandler instead. Bad move. Barton had a great game.

My Dynasty team is in 1st place! I'm only saying this because I don't think it will last even another day. It's funny because last year I took Batum with my 3rd pick and he's out, and I don't remember where I took Lavine, but he's also injured. Ingles is shooting very well and he was my 2nd to last pick. I took Isaacs in the draft over Tatum because I believe Isaacs will get a lot of blocks and post efficient numbers. Dieng has been a non-factor in the 1st two games for the Wolves, and I'm hoping he gets traded to up his value. My Greek Freak / D-Book 1st and 2nd pick are going to be gold for the next 10 years. :)

On the flip side of the things, my Premier team isn't playing so hot right now. I thought Teague would be more efficient and have an absurd amount of assists/steals. Len laid an egg last night, Wade is a shadow. Nurkic is really scaring me because I thought he was going to just gobble all the rebounds on the Blazers squad, but so far that isn't the case. I'm hoping he is just having a really slow start, along with the rest of my team.

Rose and Payton are questionable already. Thank God Harden's playing tonight. DeMar was below average against Chicago, which really surprised me, but TJ, Dwight and Brook all played well last night. So far, so not so bad.
