Standings

How it works

Raw votes
Spoiler:
After each Suns game, an MVP thread will be opened for you to vote for your top 3 players. These threads can be created by anyone, as long as there isn't currently a thread for that game.

Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player (or coach) in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

^ is what I would have had through 3 quarters of watching.

HM Sauce for being the Ulis whisperer.

-1 Reed for not doing anything

+3 Jackson - I love this guy so much. So happy we have him. He is going to be such a beast in later years after he bulks up a bit.
+2 Ulis - Pleasantly surprised with his play of late. He is clearly not starter material but if he can work on his 3 point shot a bit and try to initiate the offense a little faster than he does, I wouldn't mind him sticking around as a backup PG if he continues to play the way he has over the last 5 games or so.
+1 Chriss - Starting to see some good things from him. He still has a ways to go but putting a decent string of basketball games together. That chase down block was insane because he actually gave up for about a second or so before deciding to run him down. Watching him go into his predictable slump routine and then decide to do something about it was surprising.

A note on Bender: His offense clearly wasn't there tonight and was ineffectual as has been the case recently. I did think he had one of his better defensive games though which doesn't always show up in the stats. Did well rebounding, switching, challenging shots and was pretty active on that side of the ball. Just wanted to point it out in case others weren't watching and defense is often times largely overlooked.

Yeah, I noticed that with Bender too. He was really sticking with his guys well on defense, and would stay in front of big fast guy driving from perimeter to rim and make them miss the shot. And then the 10 boards was nice to see...so at least aggressive in those areas.

I know most people focus on offense only (or primarily) so it's probably easy to miss those things, and his offense surely is very frustrating, but those two areas he looked good in.

This was the most encouraging game we've played in a long while. JJ showed again his #1 option potential. I thought Bender played amazing defense and finally put forth great effort on the glass. Ulis has now put together a meaningful streak, reminding us of the potential we saw last year; his defense, in particular, has looked much better. Chriss had another very good game, also. Just a lot of positives to go around.
