I am scared he will end up dealing one of our own picks to S&T Gordon or something.

yep, and he learned from the best in the business.
Makes no sense at all.

We have

Booker
Jackson
Ayton
Bridges
Warren
Knight (still a solid player when healthy)
Bender
Okobo
Chriss
Daniels

versus what did we have before he got here? I know as Suns fans we aren't allowed to covet our players like Laker and Celtic and Knick fans until they have retired and been inducted into the HOF, however, I think McD has put a lot of talent in the cupboard. Where were we when Nash left and for how long? Since 2014 he has been jamming. We had to tank and it worked! Now the true test starts today.

Sarver didn't embrace the new style rebuild until two years ago.

Yeah, he's gotten some talent. I'd hope so drafting in the lottery every year and usually in the high lottery.

There is a real conflict of interest between McD's job security and the long term wellbeing of this team. Hope it gets resolved for the good of us all.

Yeah it's certainly better that it's not their own pick.

I'm not killing yesterday's trade just acknowledging it was absolutely a risky move.

Was just saying in general because we've seen some disastorous trades involving future picks the last few years it's got everyone spooked.

I tuned in a little late...did anyone ask Mikal a question? I kind of felt bad for Mikal when they asked Ayton what it meant to be staying here at home and he talked about him and his mom and stuff....wondered what was going through Mikal's head.

He had some questions asked early on, he talked about his reaction to the trade and all that.

I read that Embiid and Ayton are friends and they were working out together last week. Can't remember where though. Ayton knows Embiid is a troll and he is smart to not take the bait. Dave King starting off on the wrong foot.

Doesn't matter how...... He directed the tank to get us the 4th 4th and 1st pick. so there that...We could have picked 10-14 for four straight years like we use to. Just saying.

I swear to god. This board is so negative its disgusting. We get the number 1 pick, "how can I complain and whine" we have a great draft "how can I complain and whine"

You figure at some point we could collectively be happy for at least 5 mins........... :nonono: Sad. I feel so bad for some people here. Life must suck to be so negative and complain about simple Simon ****. I know I am the bad guy for posting this. Most come here looking for people to whine and complain to to find common solace....

I don't need this ****. This board sucks the life out of me sometimes.

-long term wellbeing? does tanking for three straight years not mean much to you?
-McD has obtained 7 draft picks out of Scola/Gortat/Thomas/Dragic/Bledsoe/Morris
-What other teams have accumulated this much since 2013?
-4 of these obtained firsts have been traded: 1 was a misstep, 3 were used to move higher up in the draft. The bottom line is none where to used to trade for expirings or old players. To suggest McD has been or is closing in to being Billy King, is unfounded

I'm not saying McD is a good GM by any stretch but you should relax that opinion for now.

Risky depends on how you look at it. The sure thing is drafting Mikal now. There is about a 10% chance the player we would have drafted with the 2021 pick would be better than Mikal. Miami's future record is unknown, how the lotto falls out is unknown, whether we make a good choice or not is unknown, how long that player (a high schooler by then?) will take is unknown. But our needs are very much present. We need players now, especially if we are going to keep Booker happy.

But there is an outside chance that pick could produce a generational player. I think most like the trade but think we could have protected the pick. If we had managed top 3 protection, most people would be thrilled. But for me, if it was unprotected or no deal, I make the deal. Its a legit gripe of Suns fans. I don't think we have ever protected a pick that we traded.

See, that's the type of thinking I am talking about. And yea, I am calling you out. Why does things have to be extremes? No middle ground?

Focusing on the positive. Never heard of that? Come see me, I 'll teach you how it is done.

I'm super stoked about this draft. I love Mikal. I love Ayton, and heck, I first posted here about Elie Oboko a few months ago when Wilber told me I had wasted my time on a write up for a guy that won't even get drafted.

I won't lie and say it's not a lot to give to move up, but I'm pretty tired of waiting too. Hopefully it's not the #1 pick and LeBron James son or something,...but ultimately the pick could be anywhere. Typically I don't think it's the type of asset you use to move up that many spots, but that doesn't mean I'm not happy and excited.

Mikal is going to be a big difference maker to this team. He's a winner, efficient shooter and great defender with great length. Back when I though we might be drafting 5th-7th long ago, I started thinking why not just take him at one point? viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1661738

So I'm quite high on him.
