I have mixed feeling.

BUT

Watching highlights of Mikal coming off screens, moving without the ball, and draining shot after shot after shot was a beautiful thing to see. He even showed some explosiveness on some power dunks. And he can defend?

I'll trust McDonough.

Yea. We have some work to, do big-time. These guys have to figure out their roles and understand how to play together, that won't happen overnight, it will take some time. I would like to see high 30's low 40's win total, with a lot of wins coming later in the season. As long as they are growing. Knight could be the deciding factor on how good we will be. If he plays like a real PG, we could be better than expected. Ayton makes us better at C right away. We aren't tanking so that makes us better. JJ is better too. We will see what Nash and Amare 2.0 has in store for us.

Let’s all take a minute and evaluate the risk in not surrounding Devin Booker with as much young, cost controlled help as possible right now. He threatened us if we didn’t change course. It’s not just about McD.

If Booker is Kobe, Ayton is Shaq, then mikal is Glen Rice, in his prime and with defense.

Everything doesn't always have to be about Booker. How about just be happy we added a lot of great talent and hope the team can be competitive soon. And he didn't threaten us.

Who’s the best comp for Mikal?

I think it’s Kawhi. Is anyone closer to Mikal than Kawhi?

I agree with your basic premise. But he did not threaten us. He challenged himself. He was clear about that. But being unwilling to assemble a team now would be a bad thing.

I am happy, and I do have that hope. I’m just saying that for all of the people that said trading the Miami pick was about McD’s job security, there were other factors. I think it was a good move in a vacuum, but especially when you consider that Booker is tired of losing.

Proabably Trevor Ariza would be a better comp... Kawhi is the pie in the sky everything breaks correctly, Ariza is a more likely outcome, and nothing to frown out he has been a really solid player in the league for a long time.

Tim Legler just compared Bridges to Scottie Pippen, not really seeing the point-forward skills/the passing, but maybe finishing and perimeter D?

  Wow. The comparisons. We just drafted David Robinson, Scottie Pippen, and Tony Parker in the same draft.

They have had 3 coaches in 3 years and the Watson experiment was a complete disaster. Triano did his best but he and his staff were more a less a continuation of that.

The PG fiasco last year is not happening this year.

We are not going to try and lose this year half way through the season.

This team is going to be a lot better than a lot of people think, I actually want them to give this team 1 more year under a stable situation and under a real coach before they go overhauling it and bringing in over priced free agents. Wait till next year at that time you can honestly say you gave Bender and Chriss every opportunity and they didnt work out and Brandon Knight isnt who he thought he was, but we already drafted a PG behind him. We arent ready to compete in the west anyways so lets see what we got under more ideal circumstances and then cash it all in next year once we see it play out...

I don't want to give up on Chriss or Bender and would rather they waited on free agents til next year too. I would let all these young guys grow together. Mikal is our most ready draftee in a while. And Ayton, due to his sheer talent and size, you could say is one of the most ready guys we've had too.

So our rookie class is almost like we signed some great free agents (I hope/think). It seems we have plenty of players that have a lot of upside and could use up all our playing time.

I might go for a PG because we could use that vet ball handler...I guess that could be Knight to some extent. But I'd like more of a leader. But I also think we can go small a lot if you want three of our wings on the floor at the same time...with a PG and Ayton.
