Any Great Nickname Ideas??

Post#1 » by oddity » Mon Sep 17, 2018 5:58 pm

We have a bunch of young players hopefully coming into their own. It's up to us to give them memorable nicknames.

I feel like we haven't found a great one for Booker or Jackson yet.
Booker D? Yuck. Action Jackson? Clunky and boring.

Im not claiming to be the resident poet of the world but I might have a few ideas.

Devin Booker = Devinty

Josh Jackson = Samurai Jack

Deandre the Giant. Let me stress this; I am really not good at this.

I like Mikal's college nickname back when he was a toothpick.

Ahhh..that's a good one....I guess could have also done it when we had a bunch of Kentucky guys, but you have Wildcats from 3 different schools it makes it interesting.

Samurai Jack and the Wildcats.

Why Devin Booker isn't referred to exclusively as "Armani" is beyond me. I mean, come on.

I like this, but it also reminds me of a pre-teen garage band from the suburbs.

Warren = Wartime
Jackson = Mother****er (On tv his name just gets bleeped every time it's said)
Chandler = Early Retirement
Ryan Anderson = "9 to 5"
Trevor Ariza = That Guy
PG Rotation = Three Amigos, never referred to by their individual names

Let them do something worthy of having a nickname and then let them come naturally.

Until then, they're a bunch of losers on a perpetually losing, clownshow franchise.

People can not use a brand's name as a "official" nickname. Booker has a contract with Nike, and Armani is not gonna get free advertising by the media or in the media.

We fans can call him whatever we want and I like Armani Booker too, but it is never gonna be a really famous nickname for him because of that.

I had some friends and we'd watch/talk basketball and for some reason they thought it was funny and it would (when talking about Sabonis), "He's not your vydas or my vydas, but our vydas". At least they thought it was funny. Would work with Armani though too.

I know, pretty lame.

That's right....I knew they wouldn't have laughed as much at making that up...but with Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann or maybe Craig Kilborn doing it, it makes sense it would be repeated a lot as a joke.

"He's not your mani or my mani but he's OUR MANI!"

Wouldn't quite work as well with a middle name unless it really caught on as a nickname, as in, he's smooth.

Edit: Had to go back and watch a clip of those guys on sportscenter, but couldn't find one on that, but did see them saying "Later we will let you know where Dick Trickle finished in the ____________"....I don't know if you remember that but this guy never finished in like the top 30 in any car race but they would always say "Coming up...where did Dick Trickle finish in the race today?"
