2019 Draft Discussion - Suns with 6th pick!

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Mon Oct 22, 2018 3:34 pm

Oh no, our potential future point power forward is out for the season with a torn ACL.... :(

Tankathon has us taking Darius Garland, top rated PG in the country as of now, from Vanderbilt. But of course since it's based on record it has us picking 13th. I'm sure we'll pick higher than that.

I just ran a Sim and it has the Magic taking RJ Barrett 1st, the Bulls taking Cam Reddish 2nd and PHX taking Zion Williamson 3rd. Top 3 all Duke players. I don't follow college bball but sounds like Duke are gonna be crazy strong...

I have Reddish preseason #1 but RJ and Zion will probably overshadow him. I like De'Andre Hunter and Luka Samanic if we're late lottery. Eric Paschall could also be a second round sleeper. Reminds me of PJ Tucker.

Guessing a joke? It will be interesting to see what his outside shot and defense are like. He will be good but he might be a tough fit in today's nba...he'd definitely be a PF though..with a handle.

You had to guess?!!

Yes. PF. Think Draymond Green type of role.

I don't know...lots of people don't follow the draft prospects at all.

Jontay Porter tore up his knee. That SUCKS for a guy I like a lot. I hate to say it but it's a good example of why when you're projected to be a first rounder you should always come out; anyone telling these young men differently is giving them bad advice.

This is especially true when you are in the mid first round or higher. Its also a good reason to consider a g-league select contract. He would have $250,000 or so in the bank by now and maybe even have a modest shoe deal. You can always go back to college if the NBA does not work out.

It's too bad there aren't any high class point guards this year. Someone usually jumps up but I don't think anyone is jumping out at me right now.

Trae Young was on no radars last year. The top two guys were Duval and Sexton. Trae wasn't even mocked at all in some mocks. So I'm sure someone will emerge, even if not the guy I mentioned above.

Maybe not worthy of a top 5 pick which we could very well have, but someone there. It's too bad the best guys are wings.

I'll be watching this guy...he is a PF...of course people will be hesitant on an international guy again, but he will probably be there in the 5-10 range.

He's pure defense though and has no offense yet....I mean REALLY bad offense..but on very very very limited play.

This is the guy I've been keeping an eye on as well though. If he can turn into a paskam siakam kind of guy for us (hopefully with better 3 point shooting) that would be perfect. We really need good versatile defenders around Booker and Ayton (why can hit their open shots).

Let's not sleep on our need for a PF, even though the current desperate focus is on PG.

Yeah, Zion would be nice. Seems like it's mostly wings otherwise along with Sekou who I mentioned and Jontay but they won't be ranked real high.

Cam Reddish sounds an awful lot like Josh Jackson.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

What's a good comp for Zion? A springy Clarence weatherspon?
