Nashty - Game 9 vs the Grizzlies - No Cactus!

How it works

Spoiler:
Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

Bridges +3 (got us back in the game to get it close and put us in a chance to win)
Booker +2 (weird game - headed for a -3 from me with the terrible shooting and turnovers at the half and ends up with a +2)
Ariza +1 (solid all around game other than turnovers)

HM - Canaan, Holmes

We played our best lineup to end the game...need to play that lineup more.

I'm going with Booker +3, Bridges +2, and Ayton +1. Although I wouldn't necessarily say we were great on defense tonight, Booker playing with 5 fouls and still playing good D was just as big as him hitting those clutch shots late. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love watching Bridges play defense. Such a great complementary wingman for Booker on both sides of the ball. Ayton did a good job of being active on defense tonight, still needs to do it on both ends consistently, but I'll take what we got out of him tonight.

This is easy.

+3 Booker
+3 Bridges

-3 Anderson
-3 Jackson

I'm sorry, but Anderson and Jackson aren't NBA players. To win with them combining for 40 minutes is pretty impressive. And I am so happy Tyson Chandler is gone!

The offense looks so much more potent when Booker is looking for his shot. Too bad he usually only does that in the 4th Quarter. Everyone telling him he is like Harden has gotten in his head where he is trying to make too many passes. He should be looking to score 90% of the time.

We really need to work on guys getting open coming off screens. I don't think they have completely picked up the offense yet...you can seem them passing but they are not always constantly moving like Igor's offenses usually do. Booker needs open catch and shoots. He is a much worse scorer off of iso (as good as he often is at that in big moments and end of games...but during the game, not so good..the #s reflect the more dribbles he has, the worse his % gets, and far worse after about 3).

I'd rather see him miss a shot than have no shot at all because of a turnover.

Hopefully they continue to work on the offense and the turnovers go down. I just have more faith in his ability to put the ball in the hole than anyone else on this team (except maybe Ayton and even then he doesn't like to force the issue). It seems like the same old high screens I'm used to seeing. I'll continue to hold out hope but it's frustrating watching something that so often works not be utilized until near the end of games. I also think we need to play with much more pace. I don't understand why such a young team seems to be playing so slow. I'd prefer to push the pace like we used to. It leads to easier opportunities.

Yeah, I'd rather see him miss a shot than turn it over as well, but too much when he is dribbling or trying to get iso'd, he gets trapped and turns it over.

Agreed on that front. He needs to make his decisions and moves faster. He gets caught sometimes and can't get out of the trap.

Link? I thought I read somewhere that Booker's iso is one of the best in the NBA.

I posted it at least once, and maybe twice. There is a tweet somewhere. It might be in the Booker thread or in the Trade thread....but it would be a while back. I'll look.
