SUNS 2009-2010
Anyone remember us making the playoffs that year finishing with an 54-28 record? 30 years later and we still haven't sniffed a playoff birth.

Not signing Amare at the moment was a tremendous mistake. We were contenders with him on the roster for the next couple of seasons.
And yes...it was a mistake and I know all the injuries that Amare had. But just for a moment people need to just observe the FACTS. We have been **** since that moment. We know that for sure!
Sarver is our biggest problem...everything at the end it is his fault.

This was my favorite team. Amare, J-Rich, Hill, Frye, Dragic, Dudley, Amundson, LB, RoLo, and some small white guy. Had a deep 10 man roster. Should have went to the finals if J-Rich just boxed out.

Phoenix only guaranteed 3 seasons if I'm not mistaken, which was the right move. Amare was done after a couple of years.
The free agents signings were the mistakes.
BTW, this was my favourite season as well. I love this team.

In some ways reminded me of the 89-90 season. No one expected that team to roll over the defending champion Lakers so easily in the 2nd round, but they took it with ease, and then went to 6 in the WCF.

Re: SUNS 2009-2010
One of my favorite teams outside of 06-07 team. I thought we were legitimately the best team all year in 2007 even though Dallas had a better record, remember the insane OT game against Dallas? We were barely in the playoff picture the first half of 09-10 season, then Amare just took it another level in the 2nd half of that season. Amare and the bench were the reason why we looked so good. We should have resigned Amare that season since we kept everyone else on the team. Losing Kerr also sucked, he was finally starting to look like competent GM that year. Dallas kept their core and made the finals the very next year, we just folded after a WCF run.
I Dont wanna be here

Re: SUNS 2009-2010
It was a great team because most wrote us off as a fringe playoff team at best before the season began. We were coming off our first season since the SSOL era began where we missed the playoffs, we had just moved on from Shaq, Raja Bell, Diaw that offseason and while the core of Amare/Nash were still there, it effectively ended the SSOL era. The offseason addition of Frye wasn't exciting since he wasn't a particularly impacful player before his time with the Suns. But that roster was deep, we had a bunch of players who all had good characters like Hill, Sweet Lou, Dudley, Dragic, LB and even Frye. It was just a fun team to watch
So that season winning 54 games, still having a top rated offense and having our first playoff series victory over the Spurs was both surprising and incredibly uplifting for fans. Easily one of the best Suns seasons in history.

Letting Kerr go was a big mistake, signing Beasley,Hedo, Childirss, Brown and Warrick and even a bigger one.
They are all out of the league or considered huge busts.

Re: SUNS 2009-2010
It was a great chemistry team. Probably one of the best chemistries I have seen in a long time. Starters actually cheered for their replacements, and sometimes even looked back at coach as if to say, "Are you sure you want me to check in?" In their interviews, almost every starter praised their sub, well everyone except Amare. But he was probably ashamed that Lou gave everything, and Amare just did the minimum. Nash and Hill are still my favorite two man team for BBIQ.
I was glad we didnt give Amare that contract, but very disappointed in how we played the people we got, after him. If we had received David Lee back in return for Amare, I think the 2010-11 season would have been much different.

this, seriously. Amare's contract ended in 2015. we've had one good albeit playofless season since he left, and are lining up to pick in the top 5 yet again. bad FO decisions be damned...I would take the 1% of winning a championship with Nash-Stoudemire approaching geriatric stages over what we have now...I dont even expect to see a Suns w/ Booker .500 team at this point tbh. that's not entirely a slight directed at bad moves, it's just that teams are already really good and young, and look to be so for the next half decade.

Yeah, I've always said this. If you are a contender, you keep the team together. We knew Amare would not last that contract, but you play for championships and we could have had two more runs. Instead you break up one of the best tandems in the NBA after losing another key player a couple years earlier (Marion) and another a few years before that (JJ).
The problem with Sarver buying the team when he did was that it was too easy for him to be a contender from day one, so he just assumed this was easy and would always be easy. He's learned some lessons, and I generally think has improved, the McD era, even though it looked promising at times, was somewhat of a disaster.

I was firmly in the Don't-Pay-Amare boat but looking back, I think you're right. It could've given us maybe 2 good runs and maybe 3 years of struggling to make the playoffs, which is what we went through anyway. And I would've loved for Amare to have retired a Sun
