With a lot of teams renovating/getting new arenas over the past few years, what is the status of Talking Stick Resort Arena? It was renovated in 2003?
Is this building able to be renovated again, or are the PHX Suns looking at building a new arena?

Current word on the street is the Phoenix City council is trying to push through a $150M renovation with the Suns paying about $80M of it. It's not yet approved but the council is trying to push it through quickly since a reno doesn't need tax payer approval like a new build. The reason why they want to push it through is the Phoenix mayor race has a run-off election in March 2019. One of the candidates is dead set against paying for upgrades. Without upgrades the Suns might leave.
The Suns had a 40-year lease with an opt out after 30 years. The opt out is coming in 2022 so the council is rightfully worried the Suns might move out of downtown Phoenix to a difference location. For example out by the Talking Stick Resort and Casino near Scottsdale. The Resort/Casino is owned by the Salt River Pima/Maricopa Indian tribes. I imagine they can scrape the funds together to build a new arena as they have plenty of land.

City council votes in December to approve $150 million for renovations and $2 million/year for maintenance. Sarver would kick in another $80 million.
