I like him more than Okobo but without a shot he is a backup prospect at best. Maybe he can have a sort of young Bledsoe impact off the bench for us in a year or two.

Without a shot you can say the same thing about JJ.

Actually I am way more hopefully for Melton since he is a very good free throw shooter which usually translates to a decent three point shooter. He defense which is far better than JJ's will keep him on the floor.

Just play him instead of Crawford or Daniels, especially Crawford. I wonder if Melton is hitting a little rookie wall though. Dude didn't even play last year so I'm sure he's pretty physically beat even with missing games when he was hurt. Speaking of that they might want to really keep an eye on both Ayton and Bridges minutes down the stretch no reason to gas them out too much at this point.

I really like Melton in the backup guard role for the next few seasons while he develops a fuller offense. He plays within his game but always plays with hustle and heart on defense. He needs a mentor like Jrue or Conley here to learn behind.

I think that there are like 373536271 players like Melton all around the world... a lot of them are not in the NBA.

I mean... his court vision is terrible. Bad shooter and meh ball handler. He does not have a good feeling for the game, and that is big for a PG.

His best skill is his defense, but we had someone who is better than him in Shaq Harrison last year and we waived him before the start of the season.

I think we need to select one of Melton/Okobo to play third string for us next season, only one and on an small role.

These second round players need to show us that they deserve the minutes on the court. It is a must to upgrade the PG position badly.

IMO we can not go into the season with Melton as as a rotation player if we are serious (finally) about fighting for the playoffs.

I think Saber's point is, and I mostly agree with it, is that Melton's player profile isn't that hard to find. Shaq can do about 90% of what he could do and he's a league minimum guy. Sure Shaq is older, doesn't pass as well and his shooting isn't great but the point is that Melton isn't exactly unique and you could probably find a guy like him in the G-league.

I'm Ok with Melton as a rotation player but he needs to hit 3's with more consistency
