is Kelly oubre really that bad? many people are saying he is the young Ariza, at least he has proven to be a decent player on a decent team, Josh Jackson has yet to prove he belongs in the NBA.

"NBA organization is a serious organization,” Kokoskov said after Saturday’s shootaround before the Suns played the Minnesota Timberwolves. “I’m always asked for opinion and my job description is to run the team and coach the team and get us ready and prepared for Minnesota.”

“I always feel engaged, involved and asked for an opinion on any matter,” he added.

“As an NBA organization, we don’t have one voice, one opinion,” Kokoskov said. “I’m always asked for my opinion. We always make decisions on what we think is best for the Phoenix Suns.”

It looks like he is OK with the trade, good to know.

Looks like Austin Rivers was the key piece Suns James Jones wanted from this Ariza trade... Oubre was meant to go to Grizzlie for another SG/SF player in Brooks. If Oubre stays, he can say goodbye to a 12+ million a year contract next year... just like Elfrid Payton who's value tanked playing for the Suns... Oubre will tank.... heck a veteran like Ariza has had one of his "bad" seasons just recently and he's a proven impact vet

Do you have any sources for this or are you just making random constellations in the sky?

I don't understand this assumption. They needed a big expiring contact to make an Ariza trade work... Rivers is a big expiring contract. Seems like a pretty straight forward concept to grasp unless you just want to complain for the sake of complaining.

I'll wait and see for myself. I mean one of the video guys/scouts around the team outlined what we are getting in that 4 thread tweet Kerrsed posted.

I kind of doubt this...he was just necessary for salary...if he was, they wouldn't have canceled the trade when the Brooks players were mixed up. Rivers is a big expiring which keeps our space available, and Brooks would have been a nice cheap player with two option years. They may not want to invest in Oubre, but plenty of teams might, like the Hawks, Wolves and some of the other younger teams.

no dillon Brooks was the key piece for the suns if the first trade got through, why did the suns nixed the trade when they found out they were getting Marshon instead if Rivers was their target?

I'm more okay with this trade than the one reported last night. At least that's one good thing about it.

The team has been in desperate need of NBA quality players, and I think Rivers has worked his way into being a capable defender. He was underrated last year with the Clippers. Oubre could be good... just don't understand why this team seems to want all of the wing players in the league.

Oubre's stats this year are as good as Ariza's. And he is 10 years younger. And we have control of him this summer if we want. And we can dump his salary if we want. I just don't see much downside there except the loss of a "veteran presence."

Rivers is really a two, but he has played a lot of one. I see him as a back up for Booker. He makes Daniels tradeable.

Woj -
Once that deal fell apart, the Suns re-engaged with the Los Angeles Lakers on trade talks for Ariza, league sources said. Suns owner Robert Sarver and interim general manager James Jones were working with Ariza and his agents with CAA, Aaron Mintz and Steve Heumann, on brokering a deal with the Lakers, but it never materialized. The Lakers were unwilling to include one of their core young players in the trade, and the Suns ultimately moved back to complete a deal with the Wizards.

Lol what did we do say, "Hey so we almost got two bench players for Ariza but the trade got botched pretty bad. Can we have your starting point guard now?"

at least we are getting back some players who had some success else where with more competent teams (though some haters will discount Austin's successes for the apparent nepotism) instead of players we drafted whom we hope will amount to something but have yet to prove to be nba caliber player. They are already our best players beside Booker, TJ and Holmes.

Return to Phoenix Suns
