I know we have all been shocked after the moves we made on draft night, I think the shock has hidden the most important thing that happened.
It looks like Sarver had 0 involvement in these moves for once! All three players fit the James Jones mold of a high IQ shooter. It’s pretty obvious Jones picked these guys. Cam also had connections to Bower while Saric had been previously coached by Monty.
Hate the moves if you must. But we should be very happy that it looks like Sarver is finally backing off. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Sarver telling Gambo that he really liked white, whom we ended up passing on.

$arver should sign smart FO and let them do their thing. If signed dumb FO and let them do their thing it's still his fault. What makes JJ a reasonable candidate to un a team? Being Bron's buddy?

I'd gladly liquidate every asset on the team and start over as an expansion team would than have him as owner.
I know that wasn't the question but it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw his name.

I hate Sarver but I've always thought the suggestion of trading Booker and Ayton to get rid of Sarver was excessive.
Not anymore.
I'd trade EVERYONE on this team for our D-league roster AND sign them all to 4-5 year max deals giving us no cap space for half a decade just to get rid of Sarver.

So...
do you guys think Sarver has anything to do with our moves/picks on draft night? It feels to me like Sarver really might be changing... If Sarver made the pick i bet we have White right now..

Watch that Warren trade for negative value result in us getting nothing except overpaying for Oubre.
Was literally just a move to line Sarver’s pockets as usual.

Did we think trading away Warren would make it less likley teams would extend a big offer sheet to Oubre? "Oh snap, the Suns traded TJ, they must be ready to match anything we throw at Oubre!"
That's a **** strategy. AND while other teams might look at it that way, what carries more weight is that Sarver is a known (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and cheap skate. While SOME teams might be discouraged at their chances of signing Oubre due to the TJ trade, MOST teams probably look at Suns Restricted Free Agents like a juicy stake knowing that cheap ass Sarver probably won't match an agressive deal.

Easy narrative to write but I don't think it's the case. It seems more like the new regime wasn't a fan of TJ, perhaps there's off-court dealings with him that they felt problematic and that the overall fit just isn't there going forward. Compound that with Oubre coming up for a new deal and Mikal waiting in the wings, I think they just made a basketball decision to clear the log jam and create a little more cap flexibility going forward. I don't mind the rationale, I just didn't like the way they did it and what we got back for it.

Yeah I think they didn’t like the work he put in shooting 30,000 3’s in the off season, improving every year and getting his 3 point shooting from 22.2% to 42.8% on 4.2 attempts per game.
They said he works too hard and puts in too much effort to be a sun :p

I think you missed my point about off court dealings. COuld mean he wanted to be a starter which isn't guaranteed or he knows Monty doesn't see him as a starter. It could be mistrust in the team's handling of his injuries. It could be he didn't like how the team wanted to him to sit if he was fully healthy. I dunno but in case you haven't read my past posts, I was very pro-TJ. I liked what he brought, I liked that he was a flawed but one of the few proven NBA players on the team and I liked that he worked hard over the summer to fix one of his biggest flaws and that was his shooting. I think the front office sees a lot of those positives but I also think there's factors which aren't made public which made him a prime trade candidate.

My guess is TJ's camp maybe didn't have any ill will toward the Suns but were ready to be moved if need be because he wants to play (and we keep drafting and signing SFs every year since he's been here)...he is now in a good situation. I think Indy will appreciate him.
It was still dumb to move him when we did for what we did but I'm used to dumb moves. We didn't even need that space yet for what we've done.

And he didn't even get arrested! That is not Suns-style.
