I still think he's a super stud (I was pissed when we couldn't even get into the conversation to become a trade partner because of previous front offices moves) and wished we could've gotten him. His defense is potentially game changing and so is his offense which is still a work in progress although his versatility on that end has already revealed itself.

KP at the max is worth it if he stayed healthy. That's a big IF. Personally and honestly, I don't see the Saric/Kaminsky PF rotation as anything for the future. I love Saric but I'm not convinced we're keeping him long term to be our PF of the future. With Kaminsky, I always saw him as a short term solution until we figure out what we're going to do here.

I might prefer a pf with a bit more defense.. would love someone like Jerami Grant (likely FA next summer)

But I think Jones has shown his card about the type of players he likes... shooting, passing and smart decision making.... if Saric/Kaminsky are close to 40% 3 PT shooters I have a hard time not seeing them in Jones long term plan...

A PF like KP that can defend the rim and shoot is very intriguing... but KP didn’t show off these skills very well in preseason... he needs to play a lot better to deserve that max... we will find out soon.

Kaminsky is looking good for the money. If he plays to his potential we saw coming out of college, that's a good signing, and this coming from someone who didn't like it much at the time. But still, I am basing that on one preseason game, and we all know how fast things change.

Saric I think has skills but he looks slow out there, and kind of like a lumbering big that isn't light on his feet. He is a fairly smart player I think but I can't see him being a long term answer. I don't see putting a lot of money in him being a good idea this next summer (though that's way premature since, again, all we've seen is a little preseason). I would probably be more excited had we just taken Culver and not traded down (even though I liked it at the time thinking we could get Clarke or PJ). Though I like Cam..I am not sure if he will be a big piece going forward (Klay light) or just a role player (James Jones). I think we made the trade before the draft. I wonder if we didnt think Culver would be available when we traded the pick, knowing we worked him out (like when it was rumored we didn't think Iguodala or Deng would be available when we traded the pick in 2004).

The one thing we know is Jones highly values shooting... they got a really good look at Culver... I am sure they did not like his shot... and he had a pretty poor shot in the limited preseason..

Cam on the other hand shot 45% from three on 7.4 attempts per 36... I also thought his defense looked solid, especially for a rookie...

I would much rather have Cam + Saric over Culver (not necessarily #6)... Cam had an awesome preseason.

Saric’s shot wasnt going in.. but I loved his decision making and rebounding.. hopefully he picks it up.

I wouldn’t want to pay Saric big money.. but if he can shoot ~40% from 3 and buy in to the .5 system... he could be a great bargain on a deal ~10m per...

We will see. Culver wasn't a great shooter in college, but he was a good scorer, distributor and defender. Could have possibly been a nice long term backcourt partner for Booker.

Saric I don't see as any sort of long term solution if we want to become a competitive playoff team, and I don't think it's worth paying him a lot, which is why Minnesota wanted to move him..so he is just a rental. Cam's shooting will be nice...I guess it just comes down to whether or not he is a big piece going forward in the long run. It's possible, but I don't know that he will be more useful long term than Culver would have been. But he will always probably be a guy you can keep on the roster and will help, which is more than I can say for the 2016 and 2017 drafts.

I hope you're right. Would be a great confidence boost to be 2-2 after the first 4.

I guess I have to disagree with you there.

Based on last year’s performance... Saric definitely doesn’t look like the long term solution... but if he can return to philly form or make improvements I think it’s a very strong possibility...

Look around the league... PF is the most difficult position to find talent.. many teams are starting a 3/5 out of position (Celtics, Nets, Pacers, Wolves, Blazers, Utah, Sixers).... Saric can be a tough 40% 3pt shooter with high iq/decision making... not something you easily throw away.

I can not wait for the opener and truly get to see what we have with this group. I am optimistic and wishing the best for the season.

Tired of reading such negative things from Green, Gortat, and others about our organization. Although there is some truth to it, it always puts me off when someone outside of the family discusses my family. As dysfunctional as we have been we are Suns Family and can argue among ourselves, but here is to a season we can be proud of and a big step to get this family back to its glory days.

No more victims, or critics, just doers of deeds.

Go Suns!!

I hope to see Booker go off in a smart dominant way. Williams said they weren't running anything for Booker in preseason to not give much away. Hopefully he wasn't just talking and they show a lot more come wednesday

A big part of this could be the lineups... I think we only saw Book play with Rubio... I could see Book getting 15+ minutes by himself where he will be driving the offense.

Everyone arguing Ayton vs Doncic here and all I can think is that the truly bad move was Jackson over Isaac the year before...

I liked Doncic more than Ayton but I felt Ayton was the better fit for the team and still do. What I see is a young player still developing and what the Suns need to do is properly develop said player instead of screwing it up like they have done before.

For real. The Suns need to throw money at ex players like Olajuwan and Robinson to train the **** out of Ayton. He has the tools, he just needs the means to translate them and they're not gonna get that from whatever bargain bin big man coach they pay during the regular season.

In the same boat, I'd throw whatever amount it takes to get Nash back in a mentoring role to the PGs. Gotta spend money to make money.

Yeah Isaac would be just about the perfect PF for this current team. I really think both Isaac and Fox were seriously considered and of course in perfect suns fashion they chose the wrong guy in Jackson.

feel bad for Zion but I think that guy is going to have a really hard time staying healthy. an 82 game season is brutal for an explosive athlete, especially playing at that weight

I'm sad, too. Can't imagine how crushed I'd be feeling as a Pels fan.

I don't think your list is unreasonable. Bottom line, we have to beat teams like the Spurs, Warriors and Mavericks if we're going to make the playoffs. It'll be very hard to dislodge one of the teams ahead of us on this list, though I could see the Blazers or perhaps even the Jazz or Rockets surprising to the downside.

In any case, the games should be incredible this year, though they'll be significantly less so if Zion is compromised by injury.

I really thought pre-draft that he was just a physical genetic freak that is as explosive as he is at that size and still be able to stay healthy. But it really only takes a look back at his history do we get to see that he wasn't this tank since he was a kid. He put on like 100lbs in a year or two and I suppose those knees could only hold up for so long and an 82 game season takes no prisoners.

I don't know if I was convinced Zion was just a genetic freak that could truly carry 280lbs through an NBA season while staying relatively injury free but that is what I just thought, I thought he was a one in a billion athlete similar to Lebron who's been healthy for the vast majority of his career. At this stage, I have to agree that Zion will need to drop down in weight, perhaps down to 250lbs or so (where he would still be in the top tier in weight) in order for his career to be long, productive and relatively healthy.

That's how I feel about Saric. I was excited when we traded for him and I've always been a fan of him and his game but that was more from a appreciating from afar perspective. Now that he is on our team, it's a whole different ball game. Kind of like going on vacation and realizing that it's a great place to vacation but not somewhere you'd realistically want to live and work. That's how I feel about Saric. I'll still enjoy watching him develop this season but longer term, I'm not entirely comfortable paying him as if he's going to be a core player going forward.

I'm a lot more comfortable with giving Tatum a max deal because I think he's a star in the making but Brown getting a near max deal is kind of mind boggling.
