Suns depth at PG

So it seems a little slow around here because we are doing great and there's not much to complain about...

So lets talk about all our PGs! (good)

Im intrigued by all of them.

Rubio... I mean always loved the dude, playing great and exactly like I thought he would for us
TJ... valley boi that brings it every gamee
Carter... Most surprising player for me because I thought nothing of it but love his hustle, heart, defense, and attitude
Ty... steve nash
Okobo… Still raw but shows those flashes of what he is able to do and I think will stick in this league for a long time
Jared Harper... One of the fastest cats around just put up 31 points in 22 minutes in the g-league with an impressive 5-11 from 3
Lecque... The athlete outta HS... Impressed us with his athleticsm and put up 21 points in 24 minutes in the g-league 3-4 from 3

I mean...It feels good to look at all these dudes and like them and support them but then also at the same time what do we do? lol

And even if some1 is like well dont worry about TJ he will be gone next year or we might trade him... I dont want to lose him lol... I dont want to lose any of them but I mean the truth is we cant get them all playing time.

Well, I wouldn't count Tyler Johnson and Jalen Lecque as a PGs.

Yeah, Tyler has shown that he can play the position, but he is a better fit at SG...that is his primary spot.

Lecque for now is not ready to play PG. He is too young and looks better as a SG too, with less responsibilities and more loose.
He has enough size and athleticism to defend backup SGs, so I expect him to play that position until he improves his overall awareness and ball handling.

And thinking more about it you can even say the same about Elie Okobo. A 6'3 scoring combo-guard who is developing and trying to find his identity as a player. He looks better as a SG for now too.

Here I'll repeat it for him. Not that difficult to repeat something for you to understand his message fully. You're welcome.

Okobo for some reason reminds me of Barbosa. I think it's because of how he attacks the rim. Talented kid but I don't think his career will have a lot of substance. He may stick around as an ok backup guard, but I don't think he will really break out.

I love Tyler Johnson. He makes mistakes, he's not a star, he's far from perfect. But he tries his butt off every game. He fights, he gets in peoples face, he hustles, which really is what you want from bench player.

Jerome I like what he did in preseason however him and Lecque are question marks for me, for obvious reasons.

Rubio is a stud. He was my first and really only target at PG this past summer. I was thrilled when we were able to land him. He brings everything we want, sure his shot can be rough to deal with but he brings everything else. If he could find some sort of consistency ( probably unlikely this far into his career, unless he pulls a JKidd)he would be in the running for one of the best PGs in the league.

Carter, as OP said, was a surprise. I knew nothing about him. I thought the Grizzlies trade was just a throw away, end of bench, future waived player. However, he reminds of of Pat Beverly or PJ Tucker. He just annoys people. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, with something to prove. And he takes genuine pride in his defense. His offense was great early on, but once Monty start shortening the bench his shot abandoned him. Hopefully as the season progresses he's able to find a rhythm off the bench. If he can come in and give us spot defensive minutes and not have to be immediately subbed out on offense that would be great.

With all of that said, we saw a very clear picture of how this team is with Rubio sitting out. And it's not good. I don't think that was the only, or maybe even biggest, factor. But it was evident. If we plan on playing Booker as the primary ball handled if Rubio is out then Booker really needs to sit down and learn from him. He still forces things, dribbles into trouble and has a tendency to make lazy/sloppy passes which really killed us these last two games.
