I wanted to funnel all conversations about Kobe here if that's cool.

Awful news. Especially after hearing that his daughter and another parent with their kid was on the helicopter. RIP...

While I don't know if teams would retire it completely, I wonder if teams will hang a Bryan jersey in their rafters

I usually don’t think twice about celebrity deaths but this is rough. When you grow up idolizing a player and watch him in person etc. For selfish reasons I’m glad we have a game today.

The amare interview was tough. Very poor taste shoving the mic in front of him as he was crying.

Kobe has always been the example I use when trying to give any lesson to my kids about perseverance and reaching a goal at all costs. As a suns fan I always defended him as the true definition of a “winner”.
I cannot think of someone more invincible. I wouldn’t have been surprised if Kobe was literally immortal.

As someone said on Twitter, it would have been more believable to learn that he rescued all of the passengers out of the explosion carrying them on his back, than to believe he died.

First thing I did when I heard the news was tell my kids I love them.

I feel the same way I did when Eddie Guerrero died. It was sudden. I'm currently staring at the screen and reading "Kobe Bryant dies..."
I keep rubbing my eyes, wiping tears, and taking deep breaths. When people say 'I'm waiting to wake up from a bad dream', I totally understand it. It doesn't feel real and I keep forgetting it's real every few minutes until i see that banner on the screen again. Totally gutted

Again, not that this matters, but you know the Lakers were going to celebrate LeBron's milestone Tuesday.
I wonder if they even mention it before their next home game.

Passing Kobe before hand likely prevented potential issues (threats?) when he would do it. Probably off but just a thought.

They're saying there were 9 people on board now.
Are we certain the rest of Kobe's family weren't on it?

Indeed how horrible for the surviving siblings in particular. As a Suns fan I hated much of his work but as a basketball fan I saw him as the 2nd most unstoppable player ever to play.

I too felt bad for Amare having the mic in his face when he clearly was not able to articulate his sadness. Sports talk on tv is hard to watch right now -- everyone is in shock and it's a bit of a blubbering mess.

Such a terrible tragedy. Such a competitor and always respected his hard work ethic. So sad that his 13 year old daughter lost her life as well just as it was beginning. Life is rough sometimes.

Sorry, I only mentioned that because a rumor went around earlier that more than just those 2 in his family that were on it.
