I think someone mentioned Jared Butler of Baylor being a James Jones type of player. Jr PG, great from 3, great defense..he was earlier mocked to us.

Interestingly enough, another Baylor Jr PG is now mocked to us, Davion Mitchell, who is also a great defender and even a better 3 pt shooter, at over 46%

They are playing Villanova on CBS right now.

Mitchell is way better of a prospect imo.

The Suns need to address the future of the PG spot when CP3 eventually ages, and this kid is a volume playmaker. Just a gut feeling for now though
I would be ok with picking Cooper as a late first rounder, thought it was crazy when he was considered a lottery pick earlier in the season. Great playmaker, but the combination of being a non-shooter and maybe 6'0” tall (which really affects his finishing and defence) puts a cap on his ceiling. Maybe a better passing Tyler Ulis

Just checked out that Garza kid people have been mentioning. Id be fine if we drafter him. Some people say he may go undrafted but you know JJ doesnt play games. JJ is going to get whatever his guy is.

And to be fair to jalen smith, Haliburton wouldnt get playing time on this suns team either. Still would have wanted haliburton though.

I know we need a PG I mean who knows what Payne wants to do. galloway and moore are going to probably look for greener pastures.

Then we have craig and nader as some wings that also who knows? Would love to keep Craig. Or nader really good versatile wings. Payne might get paid to much for a backup for us to keep who knows.

So we could be looking at something like this if we drafted Garza.

Paul/Carter
Booker/Cam
Mikal/Crowder
Dario/Smith
Ayton/Garza

Now obviously if we dont draft a center we go

Paul/
Booker/Carter
Mikal/Cam
Crowder/Smith
Ayton/Dario

Okay so now obviously we draft a PG we are in desperate need. We may be able to sign paul to 2 more years after his contract which would be the end of bookers contract and when Paul retires. That gives the oue new PG a few years to learn from one of the best.

I obviously want us to draft a PG but I havent looked into who will really be there that late in the draft yet. What sucks is Haliburton could all ready have been our guy and learning from paul.

But it is what it is.

So we should and probably most likely will target a center or a PG. What are our best options where we sit? Also keep in mind who fits the JJ mentality lol.

I'd like isiah Todd with a 2and rounder. He was highly ranked coming into the season out of high school.

I find this odd though. People are super stoked about being able to draft out of high school again but...So lets say this kid was drafted out of high school would he have been a first round pick instead of a second?

Baylor leads Houston 45-20 in the first half of final four. This game seems more like 1st vs 16th seed than final 4 game. Let's hope Gonzaga dont blow out UCLA otherwise these games will be super boring and uncompetitive.

I typically pull for underdogs, but I'd love to see a Gonzaga/Baylor championship. Jared Butler who has been mocked to the Suns is playing well.

Jared Butler is a special talent but I wouldn't mind acquiring Davion Mitchell. But he will likely be picked up early in the draft.

Duarte is the guy for us imo if he slides just a bit. Maybe Kispert but Duarte brings a lot more defensively. I don't think we'll draft a PG low 1st round when we already have Paul, Payne, and Carter. Maybe if we move Carter I could see Mitchell.

If we don't actually see Smith as a 4 going forward, I could see Greg Brown too. We have the luxury of taking guys who don't have to play right away, even if Jones tends to prefer the older guys.

I certainly wouldn't rely on Carter and Payne as our PG for the future guys. I don't think you can expect most guys taken to contribute a whole lot in their first year or two. We will have a low pick so it will be lucky if the guy makes it, but knowing Jones' tendency he might be able to get a guy he would have taken at 10-12 anyway. Unless he just thinks the key is to plug in experienced PGs to our core, whenever Paul's time is up...find someone in FA (if we have any cap space). So many solid PGs are found in the draft though, even late, and most of the best PGs on teams today that are not max guys are still on the team that took them. Unless they are getting old..but even Curry, Lillard, etc. I think it would be great to find a PG that we could contribute for 4 years on a rookie contract, like a Haliburton.
