NBA All-Star Game and skills competitions to take place on one night

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Thu Feb 18, 2021 7:28 pm

NEW YORK — The NBA announced today that NBA All-Star 2021 will be held on Sunday, March 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta with oncourt action beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on TNT.

TNT’s NBA All-Star coverage will begin at 5 p.m. ET with TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by CarMax, followed by the Taco Bell® Skills Challenge and MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest starting at 6:30 p.m. ET. Coverage of the 70th NBA All-Star Game will begin at 8 p.m. ET, with AT&T Slam Dunk taking place at halftime. The game will follow the same format as last year, with the teams competing to win each quarter and playing to a Final Target Score during the untimed fourth quarter.

The rosters for the NBA All-Star Game will be determined through the NBA All-Star Draft, where the two team captains will select from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves in each conference and make their picks without regard to conference affiliation. The captains will be the All-Star starter from each conference who receives the most fan votes in his conference. NBA All-Star starters will be announced tonight, Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. ET on TNT.

My guess is coaches voting will be most similar to player voting, so that leads me to believe both Paul and Booker will make it. The only other way is if they vote for Zion AND Ingram to make it in addition to Ingram. Ingram actually ranked higher than Zion and Gobert with players.

I’d like to see Cam Johnson in the 3pt contest. Hope he’s selected.

Cam has been horrible from the 3 of late though. He's dropped to like 36% which is league average.

Interesting that LeBron picked tons of passers, while Durant picked shooters/defenders/etc...Bron gets Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Simmons, CP3, Sabonis....along with two killer PGs in Curry and Lillard

KD's team got the Brooklyn guys though, so Harden can set people up...but then he got Embiid, Kawhi, Zion and a bunch of shooters like Tatum, Beal and Booker.

Booker also went 12th. I'm pretty sure starters had to get picked first, so really Book went 3rd of the rest only behind Harden and Lillard.

Funny to see who the last two picks were....a team I guess not so respected

Spoiler:
LeBron James and Kevin Durant selected their respective teams for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.

James picked Giannis Antetokounmpo first overall, while Durant selected Kyrie Irving with his initial selection.

Team LeBron (Starters)
Pick 1: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Pick 3: Stephen Curry
Pick 5: Luka Doncic
Pick 7: Nikola Joki

Team Durant (Starters)
Pick 2: Kyrie Irving
Pick 4: Joel Embiid
Pick 6: Kawhi Leonard
Pick 8: Bradley Beal
Pick 9: Jayson Tatum

Team LeBron (Reserves)
Pick 11: Damian Lillard
Pick 13: Ben Simmons
Pick 15: Chris Paul
Pick 17: Jaylen Brown
Pick 19: Paul George
Pick 21: Domantas Sabonis
Pick 23: Rudy Gobert

Team Durant
Pick 10: James Harden
Pick 12: Devin Booker
Pick 14: Zion Williamson
Pick 16: Zach LaVine
Pick 18: Julius Randle
Pick 20: Nikola Vucevic
Pick 22: Donovan Mitchell

Wonder who he's replacing. Booker had a sore quad so it's possible he pulled out and decided to chill with Kendall instead.

It’s Booker. Damn I said it yesterday, DeRozan definitely deserved it over Conley.

And how did Booker continue to play and log 30 mins in last night’s game? It was obvious then that it was bothering him.

I don't love that they are calling it a 'knee sprain' after saying it was a bruised thigh last night.

Sucks not to see Booker in the All Star Game. Hopefully he recovers quickly.
