He's been a monster. He is underrated. When people mention Ayton as a top 5 C, I think they forget about how well he is playing. He can't switch, but he is very efficient and has become an elite rebounder.

He is one of the handful that beats Ayton on rebounding and I think he will outrebound Ayton. He also has had games where he hits all of his shots.

He is one of the more challenging guys for Ayton because he has grown a lot and learned positioning and knows his limits offensively.

Memphis really seems to get the most out of their guys.

Memphis will be playing on the road on the 2nd night of a back to back. Gotta take advantage.

And they just lost today to a team with the following starting 5

Yeah, we always have a tough time with Memphis, and they will be desperate. We don't seem to make any games easy. Hopefully Book cleans up the sloppiness and Crowder doesn't put a dud up like last night.

Payne too, who played like crap.

Didn’t we just beat them by like 30?

They were missing Anderson, Brooks, Clarke and Allen. When they all played we lost to them by 4 points In our first meeting.

Yeah, but I think they rested like most of their starters.

Brooks is awful. Bane took his minutes which is a big windfall to Memphis.
Anderson and Allen are ok.
Clarke is decent.

The Grizzlies have a pretty flat talent distribution from 4-10 (Morant/JJJ/JV) on their roster. And they’re deep.

Biggest difference between the team we beat by 30 and tomorrow’s team is that tomorrow’s team is going to play water trash Brooks 30minutes. Advantage: us.

Brooks isn't the biggest. Kyle Anderson and Clarke are their 3rd and 4th best players (with JJJ out..though they may be better anyway). Bane has gotten some run under his belt as has Winslow.

Brooks has had a bad year, but he's still a regular starter, pretty solid defender and kind of a glue guy for the team. They started two rookies and Melton and had Winslow back after a long layoff.

Kyle Anderson is probably their 2nd or 3rd best player this year.

JJJ, Kyle Anderson, Clarke and Brooks were all out. And Allen. Those are still 4 of their top 7 guys.

They also just had a very poor shooting night, going 5-33 from 3. Their starters were 1-18.

That was Winslow’s first game back and he was parachuting up threes (like freaking Myles yesterday), only his missed as they should.

I don’t think we win by 30, but any team with Morant/JV/Jones is ~basically Mem’s squad this year (sans JJJ). The rest of their guys are flatly replaceable with players on the team already.

They typically play tough though and have beaten the Clippers, Sixers, us, the Nets twice, Spurs twice, blown out Charlotte twice who beat us, just lost to the Nuggets by 1, etc.

We should beat them, yes, but we have played the majority of most of our recent games pretty poorly.

They’re better than Indiana fwiw, and not on a SEGABABA. I tend to discount most of the recent H2H because our team this year is materially different than years past (even the first meeting had no Saric, so doesn’t really count). Just found it funny that people are worried about Memphis especially when we just waxed them and played a half of garbage time in a game Morant and JV and Tyus all played in.

Taylor Jenkins deserves COTY consideration, but it always goes to a top seed with massive talent, rather than who actually does the most with the least.

I didn't realize the Grizzlies were 17-18, that's honestly pretty impressive for how beat up that team has been. Coming off a back to back I expect our guys to be super tired and winded. I know it's the Grizzlies who are coming off a back to back... but it seems we struggle against those teams.

Also Booker struggled mightily against the Grizzlies in that first meeting where the Suns lost, the 2nd time we faced them, we wrecked them by 31. I'm not sure what to expect, but hoping Booker drops 50 (has nothing to do with my fantasy team).

Brooks is like Brogdan in the way that can at times slow Booker down being bigger and stronger than most 2 guards, and JV is exactly the type that gives Ayton trouble, so I don't expect a blow out but hopefully Suns come out focused and don't force bad shots or turn the ball over a lot, Booker and Cp3have both been sloppy with lazy or careless passes lately. Having Cam back would be huge so we wouldn't have to rely on Crowder if he is having another atrocious shooting night... neverminded just saw Cam is still out.. wonder if this means he actually has the virus and not just in quarantine, he's been out over the ten days it typically takes to quarantine

I was curious about Brooks/Mem v. Booker/Suns, so I went back to look at the last several meetings.

Starting in 2018.

We played Mem on 10-27-18, and lost by 21. Booker didn’t play.

We next played on 11-4-18, and won by 2. Booker had 25 on 17 shots and 7 assists to 4 turnovers. Decent game.

Next game on 3-30-19, and lost by 5. Booker had 48 on 29 shots and 11 assists to 6 turnovers. Good game.

Next game on 11-2-19, and won by 9. Booker had 21 on 13 shots and 2 assists to five turnovers. Mediocre game.

Next game on 12-11-19, and lost by 7. Booker had 15 points on 17 shots, and 10 assists to one turnover. Decent game.

Next game on 1-5-20, and lost by 7. Booker had 40 points on 20 shots and 6 assists to two turnovers. Very good game.

Next game on 1-26-20, and lost by 7. Booker had 36 points on 24 shots and 5 assists to 4 turnovers. Decent game.

This year he’s had a poor game and a decent game. We are 1-1 and +27 PD.

In games Booker has played against Mem, we are 3-5 with a +12 PD. He has been slightly better than his typical performance against them.

TLDR: I’m not worried about them. And I’m really not worried about him against them.

I know the suns stomped them last time but I never feel good about playing Memphis.
