Re: Jokic & Denver Fans
Jokic was frustrated and the fans were too. And they're fans at the a game where they dont really get to see all angles. Plus fans are biased.
Jokic hasnt had a flagrant in 3 years, this was a frustration foul.

Re: Jokic & Denver Fans
I think the majority agree Jokic wasn't intending to hurt Cam but it is what it is, there was wind up, there was contact and there was follow through. Whether it's F1 or F2, either calls made sense.
The thing to me is that foul didn't come because he wanted to hurt Cam, it came because he did everything an MVP could to carry the team and that team was still 0-3 and on their way to a sweep. It was frustration, it was helplessness and it was giving up.\
As for the Nuggets fan crying about the ejection...it wasn't like it was a pivotal clutch moment in a G6 in Denver, it was in the 3rd quarter on the way to a sweep. If anything, the refs did the guy a favour and put him out of his misery

Re: Jokic & Denver Fans
Jokic is overall a classy player. Yes he wound up and swung and got the flagrant 2. He apologized, Cam accepted, dude got ejected. I'm ok with the way it turned out.

If Cam has a broken nose, I will be pissed. I thought the fans chanting MVP after it was quite classless. I don't care if it was out of character, the wind up was severe, and he had to know that any contact from it would cause damage.

Re: Jokic & Denver Fans
i feel kind of dirty about the whole situation, but we so rarely get help from the refs that I can't really turn down this lucky error. It was a bad call is all I will say.
I also think the refs got spooked by what happened to Kyrie earlier in the day and overcompensated. their job isn't easy.

Let's say it was a Flagrant 1 and Jokic doesn't get ejected and they pull out a close win. They're going down in Phoenix anyway. I truly believe this but that ejection wasn't a game-changer in any way, shape or form. I said it before, it put Jokic out of his misery and he looked miserable, understandably. If not G4, it would be a gentleman's sweep in G5

maybe that was another factor. probably didn't want to drag the series on any longer. now I kinda wish we would have closed the series in Phoenix though. That building would have exploded.

Re: Jokic & Denver Fans
I watched Jokic's interview afterwards and what he said was basically my assessment of the situation beforehand anyway. He wasn't doing it intentionally, didn't believe it should be a Flagrant 2, and it was a frustration hard foul. The fans were booing like fans should if your team is getting reviewed for something, no problem there either. I don't think any Suns players went into the tunnel getting spat on or getting stuff thrown at them so I'm not mad at Nuggets fans. Ggs, better luck next year, it sucks that injuries are apart of the game but it is what it is.

The way Payne was rolling around you think he took a crowbar to the face. I thought it should’ve been a flagrant one but Jokic only has himself to blame. It was completely unnecessary.

and keep in mind, if the situation was reversed, where Ayton committed that foul on somebody like Campazzo and he ended up prone on the floor, Nugget fans would have cried bloody murder as well. And Payne makes even less money!
I was purely concerned about possible injury at the time, and did not expect a F2 either.

I don't mind them booing a call, it was the MVP chant after their top player purposely hit one of our players. Booker getting a T was ridiculous too, for it was Jokic bumping Booker, and then going after Booker for being pissed that Jokic hit Payne. I totally understand frustration and doing stupid stuff, but if Booker's push on Dennis was a flagrant two, then a heavy wind up from a very large heavy player making contact on the face of a much smaller player for no reason, is a flagrant two.
It was the right call, and again I don't care if it was out of character, he knew that his swing was going to land on Payne, and any contact would cause damage.

But I am shocked the refs didn't look back a few plays and give the Suns techs for crap.

It's probably the same feeling as to when someone hits you in the face with a basketball. Like, it's super painful and you want to sneeze at the same time. hard to explain. Eyes water.
I don't think he was flopping at all. If he got up quickly afterwards, that's a different story. Otherwise, he sold it far longer than needed.

Re: Jokic & Denver Fans
I'm just gonna say that in any other game Jokic's foul would've been an F1 - the fact that there had been 3 or 4 other head shots taken by the Suns already in this game probably went a long way towards it being a F2. Did Jokic deserve to be tossed? Probably not. Was he EXTREMELY frustrated and did he take it out on a guy who is quite literally half his size? Yeah.
