Onwards and upwards

Post#1 » by lilfishi22 » Wed Jul 21, 2021 3:51 am

It sucks to go down like this but this team, this core is young.

The team that go to the WCF in 2010, all the main guys were old dudes. The Barkley Suns, the end of their prime.

This group right here:
Booker - turning 25
Ayton - turning 23
Bridges - turning 25
CamJ - 25

This loss in the Finals is going to fuel them, it's going to make them better and we'll be back

I also want to say thank you to Chris Paul. Yeah, he's 36. Yeah, he's past his prime. But the Point God took this team to new heights.

I think we'll see some changes in the way we play ball. Chris needs Book, Ayton, Mikal, and the Cams to take on a bigger role. Mikal started to show some of his next level with his drives and middies, same with Cam Johnson. Ayton has learned to be a roll man, but now he needs to work on sealing smaller guys. Cam Payne needs to develop a little more understanding of where his guys are when he drive instead of stopping and letting the defense catch up to his quickness when his lane gets cutoff.

Jalen Smith - you just saw court-side how badly we need another big who can protect the paint and grab some boards. Time to earn your spot young fella.

The future will be as bright as these guys are willing to work for.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Book is legit. He might not be an MVP, but he is a legit star and he didn't shy away from the moment. He had a great Playoffs.

Ayton had a terrible Finals and a horrible closing game. I hope he can fix his inconsistency and motor, because he proved he can be amazing if he plays aggressively.

I can't blame Ayton too much. He was asked to guard a guy who was allowed to absolutely bludgeon him in the chest every damn time he touches the ball, and had to be perfectly vertical in order to not get into foul trouble, and was still called for the SOFTEST fouls.

It's hard to get your bearings and be aggressive in that situation.

There's no question he needs to improve, but he was given the tallest task in this series, and he performed admirably.

I think guys will work hard in the offseason after some rest.

As great as Book and Ayton can be at times, they each have multiple things they can really work on to clean up their games.

Hate to say it. That was the easiest way we will ever make it to the Finals. We were up 2-0 and we couldnt win 1 more game!

Hope Booker leaves the Jenner / Kardashian girl.
Hope we get some rebounders
Hope we get aggressive players.

If Giannis gets 18 free throws a game. Make them hard fouls! It is the championship game!!!!!

Side note: I hope we dont max Ayton. I hope Bridges only gets about $20k a year.

I def dont want CP3 for 33 Mill . Lets get Lonzo Ball for $20

you Suns' fans should hold your head high and don't let the trolls get you down. Your team played great this season and just got beat by a better one in the end. PHX is trending up.

Bucks outplayed us in every game apart from the first 2. They deserved to win.

If someone told me that we would be in the finals before this season started, I wouldnt have believed you.

The guys can hold their head high. Everyone.

Congratulations to the team on a great season, and Onwards and Upwards

Booker has to improve as a player in a big way for this team to stay in the hunt when Paul is gone. The fouls, turnovers, and lack of shooting was killer

Go worry about Kawhi's knee and Reggie Jackson leaving. Book will improve. It's what he does.

Your team took years off my life. Respect!

This league is harsh in that you have to lose it before you win it. We had our hearts broken in 2019.

Your young core got a lot of experience. Their time, your time will come.

Ayton's offensive game worries me. He cant really create his own shot like Hakeem as I watched Bucks players play suffocating defense against him he absolutely had no answer. His game seems to be more designed for a quick jumper or a hook shot here and there. But honestly his offensive game is limited and was exposed in the finals. Under pressure he didnt look dominant.

Is it true you have to use it before you lose it like in 40 year old virgin?

He has some moves. Not too many teams use much post play considering it's not a high % shot if you are guarded, and he's usually double teamed. He can usually finish or make a shot against 1 defender.

Anyway, he is as old as Hakeem was as a rookie and Hakeem hit his prime in his 10th year.

Everyone on twitter wanting to trade Ayton and get rid of Paul..pretty ridiculous.

They want to break up a Western Conference champ team. Got a bunch of 2005 Sarvers on twitter.

You make some valid points BW. I'm just over reacting considering how dominant and easy the game looked for Ayton the first 18 playoff games and not so much last four games. As a center it does take longer to flourish and find your game.

As for trading Ayton and Paul is foolish talk. Even my buddy said to get rid of Monty since he didnt call a single challenge today or hardly ever calls timeouts. He even said Paul can go to for a younger Lowry. It's all silly talk considering without those two we dont reach the semis.

He is very young, he can improve and learn some moves, give him time.

If he can make an all defensive team and make the all star team yeah, Pat Beverly gets away with all kinds of BS just based on his reputation as a stopped so hopefully Ayton gets that kind of recognition from the media/refs.

As mentioned earlier he was really hamstrung by the way the refs were calling for minimal contact on things that didn't even affect Giannis's shot & having to play him 40+ minutes doesn't help.

Ι'd like to hear Monty's explanation why he kept leaving Ayton alone on an island to guard Giannis 1-1 so many times. It's just a bad idea in my mind, I mean Giannis is many things but he's definitely not a 50 point kind of guy. He averaged 35 in this series, that's ridiculous.

But anyway that could easily be me not understanding something, like I said I'd like to hear Monty's version.
