Top 3 signings MLE/ DPE/ Bi annual you really hope that the suns make in free agency?

Post#1 » by Ghost of Kleine » Sun Aug 1, 2021 3:05 am

What are the Top ( best options) 3 signing in free agency that you really want the suns to make to further upgrade this team as needed to reach the finals again? Of course you can use the MLE, DPE, and the Biannual However you see fit! I'll start:

MLE

1- Nerlens Noel 7 million ( MLE).
2- Daniel Theiss 4.5 million ( DPE).
3- Reggie Bullock 3.7 ( Bi annual).
Sign Raul Neto 2 million ( remaining MLE).

Make an all-in move. Derozan is on record saying that he'd take a pay cut if he can win a ring. If he's willing to take the MLE, he should be our absolute priority over even a backup big. I'd even forego Payne if that's what needed to sign Derozan.

This team needs a third creator badly. I'd be content with a vet min backup C like McGee and a vet min backup PG like Patty Mills if we could get Derozan.

Ayton / McGee
Crowder / Cam / Stix
Bridges / Derozan
Booker / Shamet
Paul / Mills

Of the firm view that if you want to win a title, you need to upgrade your top 7 rotation. Improving on your 8th or 9th man doesn't take you over the hump.

Cody Zeller and Andre Iguodala. No need for anyone more.

Not sure how to distribute the money. Probably MLE for Zeller and BAE for Iggy.

1 - Bobby Portis $9.5m (Full MLE)
2 - Nerlens Noel $4.5m (DPE)
3 - Igouadala $3.7m (BAE)

Add championship experience, size, defense, rim protection and shooting.

I can say - the above is pretty darn good. I can totally get behind this. But I also agree with Red Indian on that if you can get a guy like DeRozan - you have to make the call. Now its highly unlikely DeRozan signs for the MLE of just over 9m. But I think you have to make the call to see if you can get that top flight talent for the bench. And I agree if the combo is say DeRozan and McGee compared to Noel and another player - I would take DeRozan and McGee.

If not, I think the above trio of players makes a heckuva lot of sense.

This also takes into account Cam Payne being brought back.

If we somehow got DeRozan, which I just don't see happening, it would make our recent bad trade, a terrible trade.

Why would you say it would make the recent bad trade a terrible trade? And I agree, I don't think the Suns get DeRozan - he can get paid higher by many teams. Is it because Shamet and DE Rozen are similar players who bring the same thing, offense off the bench.

I dont see how we can get neto for cheap. You have to go for Payne OR neto.

Payne and Neto are kinda like the same player/same stats.

Neto should get a good offer to be a back-up somewhere.

The problem is there are like, 15 other FA PGs equal to or better than Neto. There's a good chance the market dries up and Neto, or one of those guys, is stuck signing for whatever money is left.

This would be lovely.Especially Bobby Portis.I think he's the perfect fit at PF for the Suns.If the Suns had him rather than the Bucks, we beat them in 5 games , and take home the title imo

This!
But also considering that he may want to play for an upstart contender in a system that amplifies a players strengths and skills. And for a player friendly coach! We are apparently a desirable destination again guys!!!

And it feels damn good!

Even though I like Zellers' physicality and consistency, He doesn't really offer consistent shotblocking, Nor can he space the floor. Now IF he was willing to take the minimum, Then maybe I'd consider him As a 3rd big replacement for Kaminsky, Or say if we also made sure to add a shotblocking 5 ( Noel or McGee). Then I'd choose between Zeller and Bradley to play as an oversized 4 for their rebounding and post scoring?

Although Tony Bradley also beats Zeller in most statistical categories as well as advanced metrics. So I'd probably lean towards him over Zeller. But no way I'd sign either for more than two to three million tops, As they don't currently provide the two biggest value skills for a modern big yet! They're both basically slight variations of Enes Kanter.

I would be intrigued by having them as a 3rd string big option to be switched in against extra big lineups for their rebounding and post scoring though. But again, Only alongside of a legitimate athletic shotblocking big man. Otherwise we'd be much better served to go with some Combination of Noel/ Howard/ McGee at the 5, And a floor spacing 3 and D 4 option such as Theiss ( 1), McDermott ( 2), Bjelica ( 3).

Then you use (DPE) for one of Bullock, Batum, Jeff Green? Maybe even Glenn Robinson 3rd or maybe Mo Harkless perhaps???

Bi annual to resign Craig.
Minimum for Bradley or Zeller.
Minimum for Nader.
Minimum for Neto.
Or just sign McKinley Wright or Alvarado on a two way as our last guard?

But neither Zeller or Bradley would really be worth more than around the minimum for us honestly.

Zach Collins with DPE. Lotto ticket if he stays healthy you'd have a hell of a player.

He would be an interesting signing. The injury history is a concern but the upside potential at23 .. is there

If JaVale McGee is really only going to get the vet minimum, I sign him, even for a little more. I also sign Raul Neto for the minimum (39% 3pt shooter and 3/1 ast/to ratio). Noel would be ideal if we spend the MLE. Maybe Batum if he really is only in the $4-6 million range and Iguodala for the minimum if he would take it.

If we get those cheap deals for McGee, Neto and Batum I think that would really be nice. If they all get more, it depends. I take Noel over McGee if they are even close in price. If Batum makes more than $4-5 million sign Iggy for the minimum.

I would say Portis, but I can't see the Bucks letting him go since he was pretty key and they have limited avenues on adding players.

Zach Collins too injury prone..out all of last year. 11 games the previous year.

Our rotation is fairly set if we get another big though and a 5th guard who can handle the ball and shoot. I'd bring back Nader too and maybe Craig if he is around the minimum, but Marks had him for more.

For the price at C, wing and PG:

McGee, Noel
Batum, Nader, Iguodala
Neto

Happy with all of those. My only concern about Neto is he is only 29 and might want to try to play himself into a larger contract next season. He wouldn't have much chance to do that here.
