After Blazers spanked us by 29 they trail by 31 few days later to the clippers.

They have only played trash teams so far (pistonsx2, pels, raptors). I still think they are 4th-6th seed in the east (depending on injuries and such). They could sneak into the ECF if their 2nd round opponent is injured or shts the bed. This good start can boost their morale and help them find chemistry as most of that teams core is new(ish). LaVine is the only one who is there 2+ years from their top 8 players now.

But it's good to see a competent Bulls team after such a long time.

I picked them around that too, or more like 6-8 but yes, I was going to mention the same. They have played not good teams, however, they do have a winning margin of 10 per game (we are 4th worst only behind Thunder, Pistons and Magic).

But beating the teams you are supposed to beat is good.

They do have a lot of talent. At first I thought defense might be a problem, but Ball is a solid defender as is Caruso and Derrick Jones Jr and I think Patrick Williams. It's mostly just Vucevic, LaVine and DeRozan who are not great defenders. They have some solid 3 pt shooters too with Vucevic, LaVine, Caruso and Ball.

It is their best start since 96-97.

It's probably not the right comparison but watching Ja, the first guy he reminds me of is a 6-3, 6'4 version of a young Iverson in the sense that he's so fearless at getting to the rim...except he's finishing over people. Young AI used to opportunistically dunk on bigs if he has his timing right but being barely 6ft, it doesn't happen offer. Ja is so skinny but still unafraid to get get to the rim and finish. Absolute marvel to watch.

I'll be honest, I was not high on him going into the draft. I was guilty of having a bias against skinny, fast scoring PG's without a solid shooting strokes coming into the league. I saw him in the same mold as dudes like De'Aaron Fox (who's also a stud now), Sexton, Coby White and a little of Garland. Certainly proven me wrong. He's really taking off this season

+1 We've had to wait for this kind of stuff to stop for so long that it turned me off the NBA completely. Maybe when they really call travelling, offensive player initiating contact while shooting as an offensive foul, not call throwing the ball up after the foul free throws etc I might tune back in.

Evan Mobley must be similar to Ayton in that he can switch out onto the perimeter, because he is near the top of the hustle leaders not only in contested 2s, but contested 3s.

That's a classic CP3 move too. I do like these new rules. Much less of these BS calls. I'm sure Harden will figure out how to score again but I LOVE that he can't "draw" those BS fouls anymore where he hooks his arm onto the defender.

The current starting five of Ja Morant, De’Anthony Melton, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson, Jr., and Steven Adams has a net rating of 41.0 — the highest among any starting five in the entire NBA and it’s not even close. The Pacers have the next-highest net rating at 30.0.

If Ja continues this, he'll be All-NBA easy. Damn those lottery balls.
(+1 Suns related: Brandon Clarke is out of their rotation, wonder if we could get him for cheap, like a 2nd around the trade deadline)

He would be a nice defensive guy off the bench and even small ball C...and on a rookie contract. If only we hadn't moved down from 2nd to 4th in the Ja draft or even had we taken Bane at 10 last year if not Haliburton. They usually stick with their young guys though. They just got JJJ back though and Slo Mo is good too. And they have Winslow. We'd have to match salary though...but Smith may match since he was drafted higher. I still have hopes for Smith but we will see for how long.

Having Morant is like having young CP3. He would fit perfectly on this team. I'm more disappointed of missing on him than Doncic being for taking Ayton anyway, while I felt Ja may be available in a trade.

They were NEVER trading that pick. Ja is from that general part of the country and Memphis was stoked to be able to draft him and actually have someone who might like playing in Memphis.

Yeah, that was about as likely as all those people saying they thought we could trade up and draft Doncic to pair with Ayton lol.

Damn, Mo Bamba with a monster game tonight. 14, 18, 5, 3 and 2/5 on 3s.

Nice to see him gettig going after the injuries and the complete missmanagement of those rookies there. Orlando starting lineup is putting up good(ish) numbers so far. Cole Anthony has also been real good so far. Too bad we didn't get him either. I imagine he'd be ready to take over after CP in a year or so.

Mobley and Barnes are still the best rookies out there, nice games tonight as well. Intrigued to see Mobley against us (and how he looks on a btb). Cleveland could be tricky... they could get Simmons for Love and Sexton and a cpl picks - that SexLand backcourt will not really work longterm imho. Then they "only" need to trade Allen for some wing shoothing/defense. Also, Ricky is extreemly helpful there from the bench as the "adult in the room" setting up guys and teaching them the ropes.

Memphis had Conley, which was the reason to think initially they may not be interested in Ja, but they made it pretty clear he's theirs. In theory Luka was obtainable as well, just had to beat Mavs offer with a package around Booker and a bunch of picks, but Suns would never do it. Doncic's start of the season is pretty meh btw.

Craig with great game. Wish they could have found a way to keep him. He's the missing piece in the second unit and we had him. Nader is 11th man.

I wonder if they've tried a SexLandLoveMob lineup yet.
