A guy like him wouldn't be on our roster. Proud of that.
It's gonna be interesting to watch how he plays tonight.

Probably another ejection after Chowder dunks in his face and yells " you ain't bout dis life homie". Hayes starts attacking Crowder but right in the nick of time Biyombo runs a 40 yard dash head butting Hayes as a retaliation for attacking Crowder. Everyone laughs included the refs as Hayes gets another ejection in a comfortable suns victory 117 to 103. The End.
i mean clearly it is not mathematically a must win. but that's why i say "i treat it" as such. the sooner we wrap this up, the sooner (and more) Paul can rest for the next round. unless you think 6 games of him playing 40 minutes is an ideal first round.insomniac00 wrote:spanishninja wrote:we gotta take this game VERY seeiously. utah and minnesota both evened their series despite being embarassed previously, and the pelz have already played us very tough. i treat it as a must win myself.

"Must win" gets overused a lot in my opinion. I get that fans are pumped for every game, and obviously every game is super important. But this is not a must win game for the Suns. They can lose and still easily win the series.
Not saying they shouldnt have urgency or anything like that. But for me a "must win" is for situations where should they lose, the series is either over or becomes astronomically low odds to win.

Plenty of similar players on minimum or low-dollar deals giving their teams what Landry's supposed to. The man can't hit a f*cking shot, and he can't do any f*cking thing else. He is absolutely killing us. F*ck!

also, I disagree that we easily win the round if we cant finish it in 5.

Amazing his new contract hasn't even started yet and it's 4/$42.5. Luckily it''s not guaranteed in 24-25 but we still have 2/$20 which could prevent us from wanting to pay Ayton or getting another piece for depth. I wish i knew if we stretched him if it's only the guaranteed portion that you have to pay. The more I think about it, the more I think it would be...since you are basically saying you don't want him any more so you are not guaranteeing the 3rd year or picking up the 4th.
He would be a $4 million hit for 5 years, but I think it would be worth it. Honestly I'd stretch him, Saric and Craig. Those two would be a combined $6 million for 3 years.
So the next two years we'd have a $10 milion cap hit but next year we'd be out of about $24 million in salaries, for a net savings of $14 million. Some might be tradeable but I'd hate to give up another 1st to get rid of the salaries.
That $14 million in savings would probably save a whopping amount of luxury tax though. Probably something like $40 million more. This is if we keep Ayton.
Or we could keep the $24 million of these guys instead of Ayton...they may value the 3 guys and their depth more. Who knows? I know a lot don't want us to pay him the max and they talk about that more than paying these other guys.
Obviously not wanting to pay the max means they'd prefer to not have him at all because that is likely what it takes even if he's not worth it.
Can't quite remember your take, which may change but it seems you thought maybe we would want to utilize the money some other way, though we could only do that in S&T which would be tough to get near equal value back based on our needs.
It's amazing Shamet will make more than someone like Tyus Jones does now.
If we got rid of those guys via stretch and somehow got under the tax, we could use the full MLE instead of the tax MLE and sign a backup PG like Jones possibly with the MLE.

Yep, that was my concern when we traded for him. I felt he was unplayable in the playoffs, where teams will just switch until he is guarding them, then pick him apart. If he can't shoot on the other end, he is beyond useless. But Monty will probably give him more minutes than CamJo tonight, like he did the other night. I am glad Monty has confidence in his players, but the playoffs are a different beast, and confidence in flawed players can easily be exposed.
As for the "must win" situation, I don't think that is tonight. Tonight is a must play better as a team night. All guys have to do their job, and that includes the coaching staff. We can't have guys that take threes be 0-5, and still getting minutes. Unfortunately, we need a monster game from Ayton, and another great fourth from CP3 if we can't play guys that can contribute on both ends.
I am still very concerned about Payne. He also can't make a shot outside of a layup, and has been poor at passing and defense. He can dribble up the court, and at times, make a layup. That is just not enough for the playoffs. We really need to try Holiday, and see what he can contribute. We may need him often if we advance. We can't expect CP3 to play 40 minutes a night on this level. He keeps getting knocked to the floor, and bumped and pushed coming up the court.
I would also like to see some Biz, since our guys can't hit a three. We need his energy and hustle. Hustle always rubs off on other players. Play him with CP3 and get some nice pick and rolls. We need more screens from our guards and wings, and we need more off ball movement. We need Craig to get easy close shots so he sees something go in the basket, but we can't have him dribbling up the court.
Pels will adjust from last game, so expect more threes open and more packing in to stop Ayton. We need guys to make them pay for this, so if Chuck Chowder, one of Jae's personalities shows up, Monty needs to pull him.
