yeah, and the suns would buy the donuts. But as you know Johnson is the guy the celts would be interested in, I figured takeing on 40 mill of useless money would knock down the price of Johnson considerably.

Suns love Cam, and Monty loves Shamet. If it was just unloading bloated salaries for ok players, for tax saving purposes, knowing the Suns, I think they'd do a first.

But given Cam Johnson would be in the deal, at best Shamet would be a wash, but they would probably think there is net value in the trade. Only 2 years of Shamet's deal is guaranteed, so like $19 million, and Cam definitely has pretty good trade value. So I think they'd probably want something like a 2nd back at least. Maybe a first since it would be a very late one, and because it would take them a lot of motivation to move Cam.

Yeah, what he said. Only asteriks is that you are dealing with JJ, so he might attach a first round pick even without you asking. Maybe you can talk him out of giving you 2 picks, but that's not a given either. You'd have to work hard not to recieve 2 picks.

I'm half convinced that JJ will find a way to send out picks in an Ayton S&T, even if all we were getting back was a TPE...

Cam Johnson has value. Far more than a salary dump. The Suns would use him to fill a need if they included him in any deal. They don't need to trade him since he's making pennies right now compared to his value and any extension wouldn't kick in until next season.

Needing a backup guard, it would probably start with Smart, even though he's not a backup.
Just that type of idea.
