Re: Should Amare be retired number?
Every day Amare and Marion aren't in the Ring of Honor is an insult to Suns fans. If I became the owner, the first thing I'd do is schedule those ceremonies.
RIDICULOUS.
RIDICULOUS.

Retire his number? No... his best years were wearing #1, and Booker has already put more years and been more important to the team overall.

Amare's conference finals performance against the Spurs in 2005 was his absolute peak. 31 PPG 10 RPG 1.5 APG and 1.5 BPG, shooting 55% from the field, and *10 FTA per game* on prime Tim Duncan. A crazy number of And-1s shot his PPS through the roof. He was amazing in his last few years with us wearing #1, but whenever I think about that series, I lament the greatness and championships that were to have been.

Definitely my favorite Suns player of all time, can’t think of a player that plays like him in today’s NBA. I really miss watching him.

Re: Should Amare be retired number?
Would've been a nice player in todays game. Defense and rebounding weren't top tier but honestly looking back we kind of underrated him on that end. No doubt he'd be popping a couple 3s had he developed in todays conditions, and the post defense wouldn't be quite as concerning with the smaller players.
But I remain a firm believer nobody should ever have their number retired.

For why? Being selfish and not taking his rehab seriously and thereby costing a chip in the 2nd Nash MVP year?
Might as well retire that weasel Marion's jersey too lol.

I'm a true Suns fan.
I remember that Marion single handedly stopped Kevin Garnett from being traded here and thereby combining forces with Nash.
I remember Amare being too lazy to play defense. Costing us another ring.
Both players were soft and mentally weak. They had good moments but neither deserve to have their numbers retired.

I don't think he has a good relationship with Sarver since he signed a one day contract with the Knicks and retired even though he had his best years here.
I Dont wanna be here

Re: Should Amare be retired number?
Loved Amare during his prime. One of the most exciting and impactful players in Suns history.
That said I generally don't like the idea of a number being retired unless the player is not only franchise changing but culturally changing and in the zeitgeist of it's time. I don't think Amare ticks all the boxes.

I thought Amare did that because of the poor relationship with Sarver.
It's a damn shame Amare and Marion haven't been involved with the franchise following their retirement. Sarver's to blame. He thinks he IS the franchise. He may own it, but he's merely a steward.
The whole thing is just sad.

Same with Nash which is pretty sad. Steve did a lot to put the Suns back on the map but he hasn't been involved with the franchise in any capacity either other than that one time he came back just to accept his place in the Ring of Honour. Thinking back on it, the only guy from the SSOL days who ever came back to do anything with us Jones. You could maybe count Barbosa on his retirement tour too but I guess post-retirement, there isn't really anyone of note.

So because Marion didn't want to take less than he thought he was worth to play in the abyss that is Minnesota, it means he's not worth ring of honor? Pretty dumb reason

He would've gone to Boston, not Minnesota. Then the Celtics would've sent a package to Minny. Once Marion said no to Boston, the Celtics and Wolves just decided to cut us out and do the deal between themselves.
KG agreed to go to Boston once Ray Allen had signed on.
