Who do we want for our new owner? POLL
Hey so I was gonna bug BW to add this into the 2022 thread but I figured I'd just make a thread and we can go back into it over the next few months. Basically who do you guys want as the new owner who will hopefully take us to the promised land...
(PS: I've allowed the ability to change your vote as we learn more about these ppl)

*Bidwill not only can't afford the team, he likely couldn't head an investment group without leveraging the Cardinals. I'd rather someone buy him out than have him take over another of my favorite franchises(which I know will never happen).
I think Iger would be the best managing partner if he got the backing, but knowing he's already over 70 years old would cause too much uncertainty for future control of the team.
Musk would be the worst owner of the bunch by far, he's more internet troll at the point than someone I'd want leading the team.
Of the rest I'd take Bezos based on what I know at the moment.
*Edit: I also doubt the league would even approve the sale to Musk based on his social media habits.

MUSK. Cuban uses his social media in a similar way. I don't see the issue.

I agree on Bidwell and Musk. I mostly just included them because I wanted to have as many options as possible.

I don’t really have a particular name but my prediction is that it will be a minority in some form

I DO NOT understand the Elon Musk stuff at all. Firstly he has stated he DOES NOT want to own a sports team, he is all over the place, and he is a bit of a nut job.

Yes pay $150m for an extra max like GSW.

Yeah. I'd prefer someone who's worth more than 15B and can buy the team outright. Someone who doesn't care about luxury tax is huge.

Bezos definitely the choice for me. Deep pockets. Luxury tax is nothing. Would very likely buy out the bally contracts and air the games on Prime....and it would vastly increase the Suns exposure and worldwide popularity, players would want to play here. Apparel would be easy to buy. He is into sports.
I just don't see really any downside. I guess Jobs would be ok. Ellison is unappealing but at least has money. Musk is very unappealing.

Easily Bezos. I’d even pay more in Prime for this to happen and I’m a New Yorker.

Musk isn't going to buy any sports team right now while he is in dispute over the sale of twitter which he's desperately trying to get out of.
Musk is a sociopath and you'd be trading one POS in Sarver for an equally POS person in Musk. He doesn't even really like sports unlike Sarver who despite all his faults was a huge Suns fan.

The bonus of having an old owner is they're very motivated to win ASAP. I don't think Phil Knight would buy the Suns though

Musk is insane, he is the most likely to grab and dump players based on their political stances. I'd be afraid of Bezos being a cheapskate despite having tons of money, but being on Amazon Prime would be a great thing.
My choice would be Iger, having ESPN and Disney would be huge. There would be Disney documentaries on the Suns left and right.

I also think Iger is a bloody good businessman and CEO. His $4bn gamble on Marvel has returned a 5/6-fold profit. I don't think he buys the Suns if he doesn't think he could make a good product out of it and the best product is a winning team.

Being impatient and throwing money at a problem doesn't necessarily yield positive results

Re: Who do we want for our new owner? POLL
Daniel Synder is selling the Commanders (Redskins)
I bumped this thread with that information because I think that Bezos will shift his way there and try and buy them as opposed to us. He already owns the Washington Post and is heavily involved with the NFL. Might as well buy a football team as well.
He can of course afford both but I'd be surprised if the Suns are his 1st choice now......
