2022-23 Season Discussion and Speculation

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Mon Sep 26, 2022 5:58 pm

Spoiler:
Flex's interpretation of Ayton interview....though that was exactly how Shaq would talk in pressers.

No emotion, very short. Did not smile once. If I had to guess, I don’t think he’s upset with the Suns but upset with the media. He even told Duane Rankin to speak up as he was talking.

The questions didn’t warrant him to be upset. I think he read what the media said about him in the offseason.

Actually I just watched on youtube. I wouldn't say he looked pissed but more serious and less jovial...more like Book...straight to business, straight face with questions.

But I will say the media questions were dumb. I can understand asking about the contract once or twice, and maybe Sarver once. But there were like 10 questions about the contract...

Seems like most of the questions should have revolved around what specifically have you worked on to add to your game this offseason and what do you hope to do more of on the court this year....stuff like that.

I know there was one question about what he worked on and he answered "everything".

I will say I liked his personality last year but at the same time, him being more serious may translate into being a little meaner and more focused on the court...out to prove he's worth that money, etc.

I expect big things from him. I hope they utilize him more. I expect they will, but it seems like they should have last year after all his hot starts.

Not too worried about a press conference on Sept 26

The next 6.5 months are the key to get ready for the 8 weeks from April 15 to June 15. Proof will be in the pudding - ready for a new season. Excited about it

If it means he’s done being a goof ball and gonna this more seriously now that he’s paid, I’m fine with that.

But the below could also explain it perhaps

I definitely agree with what everyone is saying about him being more serious. We’ll see if it translates on the court.

Slater out for the season. How can the Chargers have SO many injuries to key players every single year?

That had to be the worst most unexpected lopsided loss I can remember. They have had lots of disappointing losses over the year but the kind they blow in close games, not an ass whooping by someone they are expected to beat....supposedly a contender at home vs one of worst teams last year.

Though Jax did beat Indy 24-0 last week and Indy just beat KC so Jax is pretty good. Not that they should have lost but Jax is a lot better than expected.

Need Keenan Allen back badly and hopefully Bosa is back. Not sure what to do at LT. Storm Norton isn't the answer. Need Linsley back too. Luckily it's Houston next week and then Cleveland. Can't lose either of those.

And why was Herbert playing at the end?

I saw that tweet. It's a joke.

He didn't seem tired, just serious like Booker is in press conferences usually.

It's funny everyone wants him to play angry and with an attitude but when he does it in a press conference its hey where is the guy who smiles and laughs, gotta pick a side... I don't think he can be both he doesn't have that switch , ill take grumpy ayton until he develops the switch, which he hasn't

I know...or they call him a goofball.

Of course a lot of people can't pass up any sort of chance to knock him for whatever reason.

As this was the only home game I could make, I spent a decent chunk of money to sit four rows from the field. I was on the side near the goaline where Williams caught his touch down, but other than that...a totally pathetic day. I was also right on the sideline where Guyton injured his knee. Staley came over to check on him and I tried with all my might to yell at him that the injury is 100% on him. Staley keeping his guys in that late in a blowout was flat out a fireable offense. I have lost all confidence in him and Lombardi. Just absolutely pathetic.

But SoFi is nice and it was good weather and it was a fun day overall lol. Found out about Crowder's trade request near the end of the game so it gave me something to think about other than the ass whooping I was witnessing.

Hope it's serious Ayton, not "I don't wanna be here" Ayton.

Seriously...IDK. Not a good feeling about it, but it can be nothing so it's not a big deal.

The truth is that wasn’t himself at all. A person doesn't change overnight.

I get annoyed with the line of questioning on a lot of these things. These guys are mostly local reporters right? Dont they have at least part of them that wants to see the team do well? Trying to bait players into being 'unhappy' with rumors & contract negotiations by beating them over the head with leading questions about it just to get a few extra clicks that nobody will care about after tomorrow just seems dumb. Like Mikal doesnt have to be bothered by the rumors, but I can guarantee everyone out there telling him he should be aint gonna help. Same with Ayton's contract negotiations. I dunno, its like they want to manifest the drama that gets you more Twitter 'likes' (or whatever the Twitter metric is). Annoying.
