Around the NBA-Playoffs: 2022-23 season

Post#1 » by Qwigglez » Sun Oct 23, 2022 12:21 am

Since it appears we don't have a thread to discuss other NBA teams.
Here is the last thread.

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2016384&start=1900

I have been very surprised with the Jazz as I'm sure most other NBA fans are for beating the Nuggets and Wolves in their first two games.

And now... the Spurs might hold off and beat the Sixers in Philly. The Spurs also played last night carving out a nice win against the Pacers 137-134.

Anything around the league surprise you guys yet in the first week of the 2022-23 season?

And again I know it's only been two games, but the way the Jazz are utilizing Markkanen is fundamnetlaly different than the Bulls and Cavs. He is looking good out there. Sucks that Suns perhaps could have gotten him for a lot cheaper. I don't expect him to be made available by Ainge, though he is 25 years old.

There’s a massacre happening in Dallas and Suns are not involved this time.

Danny Ainge is a genius wish we got him as a GM but oh well.. glad Jazz are play great without Gobert, Mitchell, O’Neal, Boggy there. They gone rid 90% of their foster and are better two top 5 teams projected to be in the west.

Awful take, right? Now think about some of the takes y'all had in this thread.

Dallas shooting 48% from 3. They kept doing this against us and I kept mentioning when a team gets that hot, they are tough to beat. Dallas also outrebounding them 32-18 at the half.

Boston also shot 40% from 3 and Tatum had 40 and they barely got by the Magic.

Cleveland won big without Garland. LeVert had 8 assists and was 3-6 from 3. I don't know if they'd trade him for Crowder since they play Mobley at the 4 but maybe if they'd rather have Crowder at the 3 with such a small backcourt, who knows?

Sounds like excuses to me.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Man I wish I could find this thread I found on Twitter that I saw before the start of the Grizzlies Mavs game highlighting Doncic tormenting the Grizzlies throughout his career.

*Okay found it*

A Buddy Hield trade should be happening sooner rather than later. Bennedict Mathurin is crushing it in 3 games so far for the Pacers.

Of course, but I just want to enjoy this moment to show how Dallas is legit even without Brunson. If they held on to their lead against us they would have beaten two out of three best teams in league from last season. Granted Grizzlies played last night while Mavs had few days off but still impressive to win by 40+.

I've been wanting Markkanen forever. He is exactly what we need at the 4.

Jazz are 3-0. Led by Lauri and his 31 points. Olynyk hits a sloppy game winner lmao
Jazz are gonna be a playoff team.

I would rather have their team for next 5+ years then ours to be honest. If they stay put and add another decent role player they should finish top 6 in the west. Wow! What a team I’m so jealous.

If they didn't make trades they could make the play in..like 10th. I don't think they are better than Portland who will probably be 9th.

Markannen was a beast in EU championship, so not surprised it carries on in NBA season. As I said at the time I would like him as a replacement of Cam. Much closer to what I imagine as Suns PF of the future.

I don't think I'll ever get over the Suns passing on Haliburton. I'll never understand it.

Mathurin has been exciting to start the season. Wonder how long it'll be before he works his way into the starting lineup.

What makes it more alarming is not only do they take Jalen Smith, and they do not pick up his option after 1 shortened season, but then on top of all that, as good as Haliburton and as big of a mistake they basically admitted by not picking up the option, Jones has the gall to say in an interview for a piece by ESPN that he doesn't care about the draft basically insinuating he doesn't have to probably just because he is taking the credit for putting together a team that made the finals.

I think he may have gotten the cocky syndrome that Sarver got by having such a successful season early and just thinking "this is easy" so Sarver started trading/selling draft picks...I was similarly bothered not taking Iguodala, especially having watched him and knowing how versatile he was and he surprisingly slipped and we could have had a rookie contract after handing out some big ones...of course the same summer he quibbles over $5 million for a 6 year contract for Joe Johnson and takes him to RFA (after signing average SG Quentin Richardson).

Spurs with yet another surprising blowout against the Wolves. This season is starting off strange to me.

And the undefeated Jazz suffer their first defeat vs the winless Rockets.
