2022-23 Season Discussion and Speculation 4 - Trade season continues - No player trade restrictions

Funny this tweet was just posted again about an hour ago! But it continues off of the previous article Fishi and I discussed yesterday. With Fishi being absolutely right that the 1st (initial) offer was a crowder for Robinson swap which we rejected quickly. Below discusses the new altered version of the deal the heat are now offering for Crowder by the deadline IF we find Martin and Dedmon more palatable in exchange for Crowder! :D

NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat have “standing offer” for Jae Crowder
By Daniel Riccio Jan 19, 2023, 11:40am EST

Read on Twitter

That standing offer has reportedly been a Duncan Robinson swap for Crowder, as Robinson has been shopped aggressively by Miami for a while now. The report was made by Heavy.com’s Sean Deveny. However, if Phoenix still continues to have no interest in a swap like that, another deal is rumored to include Caleb Martin and Dewayne Dedmon (to match the salaries).

So basically, Fishi was right about the initial "standing offer being a Robinson for Crowder swap. But after we rejected that proposal, And Miami finding absolutely NO TAKERS for Robinson, They've changed the offer to a Caleb Martin/Dewayne Dedmon for Crowder offer. Not sure if that'll end up being the best return we could actually get for Crowder at the deadline though??

Wow, JJ isn’t asking for 3 FRP for crowder!? Read the room Jones.

I don't know about blowing it up at all!! That's a bit extreme. But considering moving Paul (CAA or not) for assets rather than having to eat 15 million next year to do so. And maybe packaging our expirings and maybe Shamet for a Hayward, or Van Vleet, or Trent or Rozier, etc whilst taking back small inclusionary assets/ young players (to build up our asset cache better). And then to finally load manage BOTH Booker and Johnson frequently (to preserve their health recovery and long term durability whilst getting a high lotto asset/ IMPACT PLAYER by default just for being cautious with our franchise player's health sounds like a pretty good strategy to me!!

Then we come back stronger with a fully healthy core, a more seasoned Ayton and Bridges, a more experienced gritty bench, a young athletic high end elite talent or two joining our core. And a new uber competitive BILLIONAIRE OWNER!!! That's a soft reload at warp speed!! (only 1 summer) then back to contention stronger, healthier, and with even more high end core talent!

James Jones has been patiently waiting for that star to be available. Here it is...

Suns get -
Lillard
Nurkic
Kelly Oubre Jr

Blazers get-
Ayton
Rozier
Suns 2023 1st, Suns 2025 1st, Suns 2027 1st

Lakers get-
Chris Paul
Gordon Hayward
Jae Crowder

Hornets get-
Russell Westbrook
Patrick Beverley
Lakers 1st

Suns overhaul their roster. Blazers reset their clocks. Lakers put three component starters around Lebron and AD. Hornets get cap relief and a Lakers 1st. If Lillard is available he is the star to pair next to Booker.
Though I imagine the Raptors could be interested in Lillard if they decide they want to compete now. Anunoby and FVV is probably a better offer than Ayton but are the Raptors willing to give up picks too? Does Lillard fix their problem of interior defense? Would they be able to stop the Sixers in the playoffs or even the Nets? Would Lillard become too distracted with his music to try and collab with Raptors super fan Drake?

I wouldn't trust Charles with high level basketball decisions although I trust him over Shaq. Agreed a full rebuild isn't necessary though we may need to get rid of 1 or 2 starters to round out the roster a bit better.

Speaking of the new ownership group. I don't know if any of you guys listen to Barstool Sports, but they had Ryan russillo on today and he said that all of his sources within the Suns and other teams have said that we're calling and asking about every available player.

That's either good or very bad depending on how desperate we've become. Monty/JJ trying to save their jobs combined with a new owner-who traditionally are inpatient and eager to win immediately.

Hope they don't do a Gobert like trade.
Wait, so you spend months complaining that JJ sits on his hands, then when you find out they are actually active you spin it negatively, I'm shocked.

All this guy does is complain about JJ and Monty with no legit solutions. We are not going to get Presti, just stop it. He has fixation on a coach that could not win anything in Utah. What a joke.

I expect that no one wants either Crowder or Ayton. Hell, we don't want them. Who else do you trade that will return anything you would want?

Phil Jackson would struggle coaching this group with Shamet being his starting point guard while having lazy ass Ayton as his center and over hyped Mikal Bridges as your key player. My bet is that neither Monty nor JJ are going anywhere after the new ownership takes over. They are not the problem. It is like the Perfect Storm has hit this franchise. Unfortunately, it probably will not be until next year at the earliest when we become relevant again.

"No legit solutions"

Yup all I never post about prospects, or trades, or coaches or anything besides Monty and JJ

Yup. OK. Lol

Sorry GoK but I don't think this article offers anything new, in fact, it's a rehash of the article yesterday. The difference is this writer now goes out on the limb used the quote from the source in yesterday's article to say the rumor is Martin/Dedmon for Crowder. It's not a rumor if the original source didn't say the Heat are adding or even considering putting Martin in a deal for Crowder. The unnamed EC exec doesn't add anything either.

It still does not suggest Miami has a standing offer for Crowder involving Martin/Dedmon. Not saying a deal couldn't happen but based on this report, it doesn't say that.

This is all probably for moot anyway seeing that, as a last "screw you" to the league and the team seeing he's being forced to sell, Sarver will most likely block any trade that could be meaningful to righting the ship. What a punk way to go out.

While I'm hopeful he'll sign off on something to turn it around, given how much he talks about being a fan of the team and how he wants nothing more than to have the team succeed, I wouldn't rule out a last sprig of sour grapes.

I'll believe it when I see it. What I DON'T want to see is us immediately mortgaging our future in FRP's and leaving the talent pool reserves completely bare. That would be dumb and turn us into the Lakers. We all see how that's working out.

To be honest, I don't trust Jones to NOT trade away all of our picks. He doesn't find value in picks and young talent which worries me.

I think the Suns need to be smart about moving a FRP too soon. Even top 20 protected. The biggest thing is health of team

Not caring much for the "P" either! Would honestly prefer if it were Black with dark purple sleeves and a sunburst on the back (96-97 swingman "throw back" edition w/sunburst pattern). Or maybe black with orange sleeves? maybe some concept of those city jerseys?? (22'- 23' statement edition style)
The ladies can have a purple with creamsicle pattern or whatever they like?

I'd be super cautious moving forward. We don't know how good or not good enough this team is without this team having a healthy stretch together. I would not want to proceed on the presumption that 1. we'll be fully healthy all the way through and 2. we're one piece away from being a favourite without seeing this team playing together.

I 100% would NOT want us to throw caution to the wind to try and go all in based on the product we've been able to put on the floor for the majority of this season.
