Ayton

Seeing how the Biyombo and Lansdale are playing is it time to trade Ayton?

Not saying they are the answer but the rebounding and defence doesn’t drop off and it’s not like Ayton is the suns no 1. Or at most times even no 2 scoring option.

I’d personally love to see him go to a team where they unleash him as the go to scorer.

The way the suns play an all round game and heavy focus on booker I think they would be fine without him. Especially with what they could pick up in a trade.

Bismack and Jock are usually in foul trouble though so I think a part of Ayton's timidity is trying not to pick up fouls which they seem to be calling on him more often than in years past.

Seeing how Claxton is improving every game and also seeing him last night against Embiid makes me want D.A out of PHX even more. I can bet tonight he comes playing like trash as always and take minutes from Biz.

As always, trading Ayton is not a straightforward answer as it obviously depends on return.

I don't feel we would have the offense in the playoffs without him (and with your alternatives). And part of the reason we are winning with them and not Ayton is getting Paul back right when Ayton went down....AND in addition getting Indy without Haliburton, and Charlotte without LaMelo, Bridges, Oubre or Hayward. Charlotte without those guys is far and away the worst team.

Then with Memphis, we crushed them by 30 and 19 when Ayton played and won by 2 when he didn't.

So it's not as simple as won without him as it depends on opponent, who else is healthy for us, etc.

Also, in addition to Ayton adding far more versatility and gravity on offense, he always seems to step up in the playoffs and matchups (though he has had a lot of great games this year, won WC player of the week, etc), and while he has had a number of subpar games, he has also had ankle injuries 3x and come back relatively quickly, and had to be a main option with Bridges due to like 7 injuries to key guys....those are not games you can just expect to win. Do you really think with Biz starting and just Bridges as a starter left we would have been better? High doubtful.

Oh yeah.
Paying near max for a role player looked like a mistake from day 1.

I'm open to trading him but absolutely not because Jock/Biz look like some sort of viable replacement. Those two have looked decent but they are just not sustainable as a C rotation. We need a starting level C to replace DA because Jock/Biz aint it, even though I like them.

The Suns tried it while being severely shorthanded. And he failed miserably. That won't change with another team. He's a good 3rd option in the flow of the offense. He'll never be a #1 and probably never a #2

His best scoring games has him doing next to zero creation as a go-to scorer. It's almost entirely him finishing on set shots or getting the offensive rebound and putting it back. That's not bad thing because he's elite at finishing with hooks, middy's and rolling to the basket. But as a go-to scorer where he's expected to create something from a dead play type of situation, he's basically limited to the same hooks and middy's except he won't be in rhythm nor is he able to get into a scoring rhythm. The idea that we've been unable/uninterested in "unleashing" him as a creator (prerequisite to become a go-to scorer) in 5 seasons and after giving him a max contract, is kinda preposterous. If he can create, he would've already created, and done so consistently. We have not seen that.

Any star big would score 30+ against a team with 0 frontcourt. Get rid of this bust.
