Damion Lee injured

Just saw the following story and it doesn't look good seeing how thin we are at the guard spots, particularly PG:

Obviously things are a little better now that we picked up Allen in trade and still have Johnson on the roster, but that could change any minute. Lee is a great shooter and played well for us, so here's hoping he has a speedy recovery.

For those thinking of the idea of cutting Lee.

He's on a 2 year vet min with a player option for year 2. So if he's cut, the 2nd year is guaranteed.
Being in the 2nd apron, that's closer to a 10mil tax hit on top of the 5 he's already being paid, maybe more.
I don't expect us to cut him unless we're told he's out for 4-6 months. At that point, Ishbia will need to decide what he wants to do. Seeing as Keon will cost him heavy tax too, that would at least eat at some of the loss he'd have with cutting Lee.
But if he cuts Lee to acquire someone like Bullock, then he's really taking a steep hit.

I'm truly starting to think money is of no object or consequence to Ishbia and he's willing to make moves regardless of the financial implications. It's a significant change from the previous owner's thriftiness, but that doesn't mean it amounts to anything really than what it is: spending because he can.

The only thing that will make it all worthwhile in the end is a title and things are TOUGH league wide. Winning the West and beating whoever is waiting for us in the other conference will be an enormous task. Let's hope against hope our injuries are minor this year in comparison to last.

If it's 4 months, he would still get back at All-Star break and playoffs.

It'd probably have to be 5-6 months for him to be a write off?

Apparently Lee underwent surgery today. Supposedly it's a six month rehab process which would be mid-April just before playoff rosters are due. That seems a bit late to be joining the team as a non-rotational player. Not a fan of starting the season with 14 players even though the two-way players can pickup the slack. I'm guessing another two-way player (teams can have three now) will be picked up soon.

I'm thinking we should go with what we've got and play it out. No sense in him trying to rush back and not be productive or risk additional injury. His season is over and he can come back next year fully rested and ready.
