Suns Live Programming package

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Wed Oct 4, 2023 9:20 pm

Anyone else find the Suns Live programming package comical? $14.99/month or $109/year. It costs the same amount as full NBA League Pass. Also, its free to watch the broadcast games in AZ on AZFamily. Very odd decision. Wondering if the league intervened.

Why would there be a package they charge for if they are giving it for free? Or is this for out of state people. Yes, team league pass is $89.99 a year and full league pass for all teams is $99.99.

I have no problem with this. They have already committed to making all the games they control free locally, this option just provides portability for people who may not be able to be home during games.

Seems expensive but I don't really know the logistics in setting up the streaming service. Back in the SSOL era I was working a schedule that limited my ability to watch games live, so if I didn't have a way to record games I would have considered something like this.

I probably would have looked at working with YouTube or Amazon to stream games there and region lock them instead of creating a new streaming service that probably has a lot of overhead.

The streaming service is for cord cutters that don't have the antenna but have a good internet connection. And it's all over the state, as long as you have internet, you can have Suns games.

Heck, I cut the cord years ago and have a antennas for different rooms and get a bunch of channels. But I know a lot of people don't for whatever reason. They are not expensive.

But that Suns option does seem really weird with League pass cheaper but I guess maybe League pass games are blocked if you live in the area.

Does people with antennas (or will receive one from Ishbia) get the game free over the air?

Yeah, if you have an antenna and are in range of the broadcast it is free.

I read that the NBA is cracking down on that this season. That you need to purchase it with a debit card based out of whatever country you are trying to VPN it from for the cheaper package...

I just ended up buying the regular LP. I figured $99 wasn't so bad. Working a lot now, and don't want to deal with other less legitimate streaming options for when I have to catch replays instead of live. Also didn't want to change getting screwed on VPN ILP. :(

I'm in a weird spot because I live in AZ but in a remote location where an attena wouldn't do **** without spending like a grand to install. I sort of have to go to league pass route with VPN. Wish this was like $49 without the tee shirt of something like that. Everything is expensive now though

Yeah, I live in San Diego, so antenna wouldn't be an option for me either. :( sadge.

My old method is working tonight as it has the last few years. Fingers crossed it gets me through the season.
