If you feel like discussing college hoops. Though Ghost, you never know, we may buy some! And there are always UDFA's!

Re: College Hoops and other sports, prospects (undrafted? or if we get picks)

I thought with the college football playoffs breaking, it might be a slow sports day, but we have the Wildcats playing the Bearcats right now on ESPN 2 and ASU playing Colorado at 4 on ESPN+

Then a couple of NFL games including an important one later, the Steelers vs Bengals...go Bengals! If the Steelers lose and Chargers win the Chargers will get to go to Houston instead of Baltimore.

Then of course our Suns vs the Pacers at 5.

One of my favorite prospects that I mentioned last summer should absolutely be on our radars! And should be a top target IF we can find a way to buy into the 2nd round of the 25' draft. Mid 2nd - undrafted range steal! Just like Dunn has been for us.

Not sure why the Suns are so obsessed with guards/ SG that have the last name Lee.....lol. i mean yeah, Xavian is smooth with the ball and occasionally reminds me somewhat of Nash with his style of play. But if they really want to pull another low key steal from the late ranges of the draft, they should keep an eye on prospects like:

Kobe Brea ( Booker 2.0), Maxime Reynaud (Pau Gasol 2.0), Neoklis Avadalis ( Doncic 2.0), Sergio de Larria (Doncic 3.0), Johhni Broome (Jarrett Allen 2.0/ rich man's Portis with shotblocking and 3 PT shooting, Trevon Brazile ( Vanderbilt with more athleticism and 3 PT shooting/ smaller Jaren Jackson Jr) etc etc

This is why I mentioned him awhile back and said we should be keeping an eye on him!

Love with a Hail Mary half court shot ties the game to force overtime. :o

Caleb Love’s half court shot to force OT was insane!!!

This win over #3 seeded Iowa st should get AZ in top 25 next week.

Damn I can't believe I missed that.

Reminds me of Miles Simon hitting a longer than halfcourt 3 vs the Cincy Bearcats at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. I was at the game, with a co worker from Cincy. He went from chearing to straight faced while I went the other way.

I wanted to go to the game but I had no tickets.

You missed a heck of a game. Just when it looked like AZ were going to lose, Love (1-10 3’s shooting) nails an insane half court shot. Then in OT he hits another three 3’s.. if he hits a few more 3’s during regulation we don’t need to sweat for a buzzer beater.

BEST PASSING BIGS IN THIS UPCOMING DRAFT!

I like that Both Broome and Lendeborg are on here illustrating their intriguing versatility for 6'9- 6'10 4/5s. BOTH are high on my list for our CLE first.

Bigs with best rebounding, playmaking and defense grades over 80 rating.
Yaxel Lendeborg and Johni Broome again with high end versatility in key areas for their size. Either would be extremely solid/ productive 4/5 options with skillset versatility.

Moustapha Thiam. A 7'2 long, quick 4/5 that just happens to be shooting 43.5% from three. Even the 2nd round and undrafted ranges will offer some very nice high-end talent that we can farm cost-controlled depth and positional high end talent. :D

Maxime Raynaud is a 7'1 very skilled, very fluid, very talented versatile 4/5 in the Pau Gasol archetype.

Sounds great. I want to target a long, big rim protector that can hit the 3. Wemby/Chet type. A guy that can compete with these new WC centers, being able to guard them as best he can, and others such as Sengun, Lively, Missi, Clingan, Edey, as well.

But really prevent guards from driving, etc, too. A Gobert type defender.

It would really help us.

We need more big athletic wing defenders too at 2/3/4 who can shoot. Hopefully we can get some young guys in trade, or steal a late pick.

Sounds good too, but the synopsis you wrote for the first guy seemed better for our needs. Though I didn't get any description of defense and shooting range here.

What about the guys in our range, specifically these 4?

They all average a lot of blocks, but you have two more experienced guys, a bit older, more the types of guys Jones goes for, and guys that probably contribute to us a lot more quickly, and it's probably a lot more likely.

Just based on measurables and stats, Danny Wolf looks like he has great size, is a very good passer and rebounder, but lacks more in the blocks department

Then you have Kalkbrenner, even bigger size, and older, so maybe even more ready, who looks he can score, and looking more into it, shoots over 42% from 3. You don't find too many guys with that type of size shooting like that, but also is a shot blocker.

From the stats, strengths, readiness, he sounds the best.

The raw guys' upside might be enticing, but we seem to do well with a bit more experienced guys.

Image

Looking more into Kalkbrenner, he seems to have a ton of strengths, but doesn't have the best Def Rtg (though sometimes Def Rtg really is more a result of team defense)

Image

Danny Wolf overall, does not look as impressive. My bet is that Kalkbrenner drops in rankings solely due to age, and if he was 21, he'd be 10 spots higher, and if he was 19, 20 spots higher. But as least you know he develops and takes to coaching.
